you know what addiction i thought would be fun to have for a day?

sex-addict

would that be a bad thing or good thing?o.O

Sex Addiction, like any other addiction, is no joking matter. For a true sex addict it often destroys their lives. It breaks down trust relationships with lovers and freinds, causes disharmoney in the work place and community as jealousy and anger set in in the wake of this behavior. It is incredibly expensive. Having sex is the oldest profession in the world and sex addicts use up their free resources very quickly. It is a major health issue for both std's and the time often missed from sleep pursueing sex on the sly. Not to mention the number of times it subjects the victim to physical abuse. Or the physical and emotional abuse of partners that are not allowed to say no. Or the emotional abuse this behavior heaps on the children of sex addicts. It is a major crime issue. Sex addicts steal and are blackmailed. Prostitution money is seed money for criminal enterprize. Sex addicts will create pornography to enjoy or fund their addiction. It is a major cost to the community in broken families, police intervention, and medical costs that ultimately fall on the tax payers. There are numerous other reasons not the least being morality. Becareful what you wish for...it might be your worst nightmare come true.

is it chemically a problem or a mental thing?

to me addiction is all in the mind. I could never see how one gets addicted to anything unless their minds want that. I just control my thoughts better then one who chooses not to so i see it simpler then the restsmile2
Their are micro fibers that get attached to certain cells in your brain from repetative behaviors if you can train your thoughts and actions you can beat addiction.

It's not about training your thoughts. The drugs change the wiring and structure of your brain.

Isn't nicotine a drug? If that's what you're talking about here's some info:

In 1988 the U.S. Surgeon General concluded that nicotine in tobacco is addictive. 1 The three major findings were:

* cigarette smoking and other forms of tobacco use are addictive
* nicotine is the drug in tobacco that causes addiction
* nicotine addiction is similar to heroin or cocaine addiction.

Nicotine causes chemical or biological changes in the brain. This effect is called psychoactive and although it is less dramatic than heroin or cocaine, the strength of the addiction is just as powerful. It is a 'reinforcing' drug, which means that users desire the drug regardless of the damaging effects.

Nicotine addiction is a physical dependency. Withdrawal symptoms are severe and most smokers cannot quit on their first attempt because of these symptoms. The human body builds a tolerance to nicotine and the effect of the drug is reduced over time. As a result, regular smokers can inhale greater amounts of smoke and therefore greater amounts of toxins, without showing immediate effects.

It takes only 10 seconds for nicotine to reach the brain after being inhaled. This causes several physiological reactions 1,2

* Acute increase in heart rate and blood pressure
* Constriction of blood vessels causing a temperature
* drop in the hands and feet
* Brain waves are altered and muscles relax.

nicotine is actually more addictive than heroin..yet, its legal...

inhaling it is also the quickest way to get a "fix"..cigarettes are the best device for introducing nicotine into the body...(disclaimer: I got that from the movie The Insider)..
