Would you choose your religion over your life partner?
Or would you convert for them? Would you willingly devote yourself to your religion and possibly lose your soul mate? |

If there was a conflict, and I truly believed in my religion, then I would choose my religion.

i've tried, and it didn't work...
i'm sure it could, depending on the right circumstances |

when it comes to that, for me if I see signs of beliefs clashing it's a pretty big indicator showing it won't work for me. I mean it's true you can still push further and work past it, but much damage can happen in the long run.
It's good to have a mind of your own, as long as someone can realize that, things should be fine...to me...if you believe in some sense of higher being[s], places, reality etc...no matter what you call it..how you reach for it..all attempts are at that one thing alone..all are only trying to do the same thing, in a different manner and if one believes in the higher, and one doesn't, it's pretty much either hit or miss...at least in my opinion |

Would you choose your religion over your life partner? Or would you convert for them? Would you willingly devote yourself to your religion and possibly lose your soul mate? From my point of view it appears to be a moot question. What is a 'soulmate'? I can't imagine myself becoming that involved with someone who is that radically different from me. I suppose I can see this as being a valid question for young people who are starting out and became involved with someone before they even have their own head screwed on straight. I'm far beyond that stage of life now. If I were to meet someone today changes are that if we had major differences in either politics or religious views there's very little chance that we would become involved. I think this applies to younger people who become involved mainly due to phsyical attraction or for reasons of avoidance (i.e. to avoid parents, or lonliness) I personally believe that the vast majority of young people get married for all the wrong reasons. And they also marry without even considering where they hell they are headed. It's little wonder that so many marriages end in divorce, and many of the ones that stay together only do so for the sake of kids, tradition, guilt, or just plain not knowing how to take serious control of their lives. Having said all of that, I don't need my partner to worship with me. But she better get used to dodging lightening bolts if she's going to be a passive observer. |

Would you choose your religion over your life partner?
Like Abra, I can't see it ever becoming an issue. The concept of a "lifemate" for me would have to include at least a fairly close agreement about spiritual matters. I would consider a radical difference in spiritual beliefs to be a fundamental incompatibility.
Or would you convert for them? Would you willingly devote yourself to your religion and possibly lose your soul mate? |

Of course if the chemistry was there I would NOT be opposed to a roll in the hay irregardless of religious convictions.
Does that make me a bad person? |
