when a 20 something person wants to insult you they resort to calling you old?

is being older really a bad thing to be used as an insult?

I seem to hear that a lot

If someone disagrees with em they seem to feel threatened and resort to calling you old as if it were the worst thing they can think of to insult you

Let them run thier yapper.

So what?

Old age, experience and treachery will beat out youthful ignorance and inexperienced enthusiasm any day.

Point of reference: An old bull and a young bull stand on a hill top and look down at a herd of cows. The young bull says...."Let's run down there and f$ck a cow!!!!"

The old bull says "No....I am gonna walk down there and f$ck them all"

It is a great insult. It gets down deep with alot of people. I used it myself many times back in the day, now the tables have turned. Lol.

Lol, they obviously ran out of legitimate arguments. If you were 25 but heavy and short, they'd call you a fat midget.

I laugh when they make fun of my hair, it is funny because maybe a half hour ago we were on a friendly basis then I disagree with something they said (I'm civil when I disagree, I think I have a rather good track record with that) and they resort to making fun of my hair.laugh laugh

Well they never make fun of my hair... but most of the time instead of 'old' they try to insult me with 'hippy'...

which of course is no insult to me.

The world could use a bit more of the 'hippy' mindset...

I love my age, but I also will always miss being younger,(as we all do) But its a quick put-down with no considerations to the person, to THEM. Just a line to try and hurt.
And in where many can here it, it does,,,as we have that as our truth.drinker

the other thing that bugs me is when someone says "I have a degree in xxxx and am obviously smarter than you"

Book smarts and street smarts are entirely different things.....especially when the smart ones don't know how to change a tire. (dealt with that one more than once)

I get that a lot too. Funny how experience in life is of less importance than an education, but in the long run I think they will suffer more even with their degree...as they will have to do something the rest of their life, and I will have choices on what to do.

and I just don't have the heart to tell them that I myself have multiple degrees. I just don't think that in itself makes a person better or worser

I have a B.s. in BS. I have an advanced degree in cynisizm. I Have a Doctorate in Apathy. Plus the 18 years of Teaching Kyokushinkia means that I just really don't have to give creedence to any opinion but my own.

almost everyone that i've come across (especially in online cases) who utters these words, cannot form simple sentences and uses words incorrectly, which leads to me to believe that there really isn't any degree hanging on their wall.

myself, i'd rather be well-versed, and well-read, than have spent all that money on college, or university, and come out sounding as though i still haven't passed 4th grade english. of course this is not the case for all university graduates, but rather the ones who toot their horns.

I have no degree in anything and I am still smarter than the majority of those that think they are smarter because they have one.
