Or like you mentioned above you would bump their hip... so put it in such as

<insert pickup line > *hip bump*

*pat on back*

*silly face*

I don't think I'm getting my point across. Ironcally, the same trouble I have with email. I'm greatful for the input though.

I don't think he is going to fair that well if he thinks bar tactics will work here anyways.

You know, I do all right out in the world meeting women. I can chat up a young lady, have her giggling in a few seconds and giving me her phone number ten minutes later. But, none of this transfers into text. It seems that without the tone in my voice and body language she doesn't get it and may even think I'm insulting her or she's offended me some how.

The art of flirting is in sending mixed singles. You say "yes" with your words, but "no" with your tone and body or the other way around. It's fun, playful, teasing and women get it.

How the heck do you flirt using only text?

It's funny, I'm the exact opposite.

Me too.

I think it's just something people have to figure out for themselves, anyway.

It's not hard - you need to literally "text" the body language along:

Throw "LOL" in there - means "laugh out loud" - doesn't really imply more than a chuckle though.
Just like if you were flirting at a bar, and you said something sarcastic and ironic - if you delivered it with a chuckle and a smile, they'd know you were teasing. right?

Use Mr. Smiley - throw some grins:
:-D

...some flirty winks:
;-)

...some self-depricating "wasn't what I just said ridiculously silly?" tongue sticking out smileys:
:-P

Let see here, using one of your examples:
"OMG, you are such a little sh*# - my mom warned me about girls like you!"
Straight delivery - imagine delivering that line in a bar with a straight face? I think you'd get a drink thrown in it...
oops

On the other hand, let's say you sent it this way:
"OMG, you are such a little sh*#, lol... my mom warned me about girls like you! ;-)

See? flirty flirty...winking

Just think of it this way: You have to text the body language along IN your text.

No problem.

Other people I know tried to answer too, but they were using the emoticons you can add here
...and so their message was lost. slaphead

But that's what they meant, too, when they said to use emoticons... I like to use smileys with noses in my texts [ ;-) ] because they look more like smileys - you know, in the event that you are texting someone ELSE who isn't familiar with emoticons.

ROFL is a good one too, maybe a response to a funny someone sends to you, if it's more of a belly-laugh than a chuckle... means "rolling on floor laughing"... they are all a bit of an exaggeration rofl

I'm was hip to emoticons, just didn't really understand how to use them with MY thoughts. You know, there isn't one nudging or playfully pushing.

You adding them to my words really cleared it up for me. I think I understand it better now.

Whoa - and for those of us who do better in text...how to turn that into reality?

Anybody who can respond to both questions...have at it!

Text is easy (for me, anyway) -- but turning it into reality? Ah, there's the rub. Can't really do it without a receptive recipient....

Agreed...and they need to understand that I'll probably be nervous and look/sound like an idiot...
