Spirits ARE real..They're just not gonna waste their energy on showing themselves to non-believers..it takes too much out of them.

Well everyone was a non-believer at one point. I wonder how the first person started believing in spirits if they only show themselves to people who believe in them.

I have to say that I think they just show to anyone, and the poor bas*ard then is scared out of their mind because they dont know how to take it.

I don't think everyone is a "non-believer" to begin with..it's just that some are more open minded than others..I think that some people THINK spirits exist but are afraid..so they block them out..others like myself KNOW they exist and I have learned to co-exist with them..the house I lived in for 23yrs was haunted..by 6 of them..1 we knew in live and the others I learned about.

You're missing the point of my question. I'm talking way back, centuries ago. Where did we get the idea of ghosts is they show up for people who believe in them only?

On a personal level, I am not afraid, there is nothing a spirit could ever do to me that I would be afraid of and honestly if ghosts are real, that could mean there is a sorta afterlife, which i might find comforting.

I just have not yet encountered anything that could just as easily be something else.

I saw my first spirit when I was 6yrs old..I think parents should realize that their child's "imaginary friend" is most likely a spirit that died on the property or in the house.

if you want a truly cool experiance,, go to gettysburg,, and get around the peach orchard, devils den, THE WHEATFIELD, places like that.fair warning about devils den though,, theres a spot called the triangle that no matter how charged your batteries are it will die until you get out of it.

ive recently joined the rockland county paranormal society (kinda like the show ghost hunters) and just got an email that next tuesday im going to be a part in an auctual ghost hunt at an old house in my town im so excited! ive been into the paranormal for years and cant wait! The town where i live is one of the top 10 paranormal hotspots in the united states because the civil war started literally in my back yard and it has alot of negative energy

A lot is easily challenged (light, sound, etc.)...not many actually catch a ghost, but get excited at every wisp of light and woosh of sound; kind of repetitive most of the time.

Not to say I don't believe, I've seen one...but with just a wisk of light or a faint sound the evidence is dim.

I lived in an old house for 11 years that a 85 year old woman died in and her spirit lived on, my 2 dogs would watch her walk across the kitchen quite often, the lights would flicker and the T.V. would turn on and off but she never really bothered me ( my girlfriend at the time refused to come to my house for a while after the first time she experienced it!!)

I believe there could be a scientific basis for ghosts...

Like I wonder what if ghosts were not lost souls as is the common belief, but what if they were mere echoes in time, trapped in the fabric of reality by some unknown means? Take all the stories of ghosts doing vague things they would have done in life, for instance the ghost that is seen wandering the halls on certain particular night. What if the "ghost" is really alive? What I mean is, what if we can only see the ghost because of a rip or fracture in time, and that ghost is really a person in a past time just going about their daily affairs? Kind of like the wormhole effect...the shimmering, hazy quality of the ghosts would be merely visual interference from whatever's causing the rip, similar to ****ty reception on a tv. Of course, the rip is unique in that it can only be seen one way, thus they don't see us (which would explain why some ghosts behave obliviously to those around them). Because the rip is static in a single time frame, it appears that the ghost is repeating the same action ad nauseum when we're really seeing a single particular moment in that ghost's lifetime.

Sounds weird, I know, and I wish I could explain it better, but I think it all adds up. Because there is little scientific evidence to explain ghosts, one can't really dispute it. Who knows what the true nature of ghostly apparitions really is?

At the very least, it would make for a great novel?
