Call me old fashion but I think the man should always pay when going out on a date...am I wrong to think this? I have heard sooo many guys say they feel less like a man when a woman pays...is this true? Well I was raised right. I always pay, open doors, etc But some people believe its whoever asks the other person out should pay. wanna move to washington? |

I generally expect the person making the invitation to pay. If a gentleman has been particularly generous and desireable I will certainly show him that he is appreciated. Not unusual for me to reciprocate with home cooked meal, help doing chores, or occassionally a special outing designed to support one of his interests that I don't necessarily join him in such as boxing tickets or a gift for his family. It is not unusual for my sweet heart to find I have paid for a chore to be done for him such as detailing his car or having his yard mowed. I have traveled to join my sweetheart during a long business trip or had room service deliver a nice steak dinner during a phone call. It is easy to make men feel appreciated without making it feel like a billing system. If I were a man an a woman never reciprocated my kindnesses I would loose interest fast. And I have often counseled men that way. It is all well and good to be a gentleman and even sometimes a hero but it shouldn't make the woman feel obligated and it should not take anyone's dignity to share responibility and kindness. Thank you notes are old fashioned but they mean so much.

I always pay, if I don't have the money there are alternative ways to have fun (personally I like walking in the park).
Edit: I've dated girls that have paid for me because they wanted to do that certain thing, and yes, it feels a tad odd. If they really want to do something I will give what I can if I cannot pay for it on my own. |
