So I don't really understand this one. Maybe someone who feels this way can enlighten me.
Why is it that some women today feel the term "Lady" is somehow derogatory? Here is an example from a profile I read: "if you don't want to make me cringe, don't call women "ladies". surprisingly, that is a huge turn-off" This is NOT the first time I have seen this reaction, however I have never stopped to really ask why . . . perhaps someone can shed some light. Thanks, -Jeremy |

i've seen the same reaction, especially it seems from feminists - they appear to prefer the term 'woman'
personally, i like the way 'lady' sounds much better, or even 'girl' or 'female' however, any one of those are much better than a lot of other things i've been called |

Thanks, -Jeremy It depends on how it is used, IMO. Some people have a way of saying it while making a dig at you when they say, "Young lady". It's condescending. |
