I totally agree. Im now where near weathy and the middle class people do work hard if not harder than the rich but i do not think the government should be talking money from the wealthy and giving it to less weathy people. That totally takes away from the american dream. He will tax people making over $250,000 a tax of 3% of what they made over $250,000. That will be about 5% of the population. He will give tax cuts to the 95% of the people working that make under $250,000. |

The point is not how much the waiter makes. It is the waiter worked harder than the person on the street. Why the hell should that guy be able to tell the waiter where his money goes. Yeah, but when you're talking about the rich getting taxed more than the middle and lower class, it isn't a comparison between People Who Work and People Who Don't Work. Middle and lower class people do work long and hard, often difficult physical jobs where they are horribly underpaid, often two jobs. Rich people don't have more money because they work harder, only because they do a different kind of work that is more valued in this society, even if they wouldn't be able to do their work without all of the lower paid people doing the less valued work.  Rich people got more money because they inherited it, and they sent our jobs overseas, and bankrupted the credit system, and the government gave them OUR money as a bailout. once again...wow !!! Yeah thats what Ive been saying for 8 years as the super rich upperclass has been redistributing the wealth from the middle class to the upper class. ohhhhhhhhhh....so that's what's been going on....tell me more...I'm taking notes... the only thing that is gonna help the middle class is to increase the value of the dollar. to stop importing and do more exporting. i dont mind paying taxes...just give me my dollar not 25 cents Yeah, I agree. And I also think that a living wage will do a lot more to fight poverty than just tax cuts and food stamps, although those help. I don't think either of us are gonna get what we wish for, tho. |

let me just throw something out here sooo you're saying a nurse works less hard than the ceo making $250,000/yr and therefore shouldnt be accorded the inalienable human right of healthcare which she cant afford? the garbage collector works "less hard" than say... paris hilton and therefore should pay a greater proportion of his salary to penalize him for his laziness?? while paris hilton buys clothes for her dog? Isn't the notion that people who make less than $250,000 are somehow lazy and less worthy of being allowed human rights elitist? if i make $40,000/year as a school teacher and my government took $20,000 from both I and the next guy who made $300,000... and tells me i should "work harder" if i want the benefit of being able to not having to give up buying dinner for my kids so i dont die in a hospital waiting for care... i'd say that was completely absurd and pack up and move AMEN. |

The diner obviously punished the waiter for his political views and is not a working class person because as one of the working class I would have tipped the waiter regardless of his tie and slipped the homeless guy money also.The diner in this scenario is obviously a pompous ass who should eat at home. |

whom should they guy have helped then?? the waitress...cause she is working and trying to support herself?? or should he have helped the homeless guy? becasue who knows when he will eat again?? If he only had enough money to do one of the two, and he wanted to help the homeless guy, he should have eaten at home. Tipping is part of eating out in the United States. |

I'm guessing this diner doesn't tip on a regular basis but I usually pay by debit card so I would give cash to the homeless guy and tip the waiter with my debit.If I had to divide it,I would at least let the waiter know what was going on.The scenario presented in the OP shows the waiter was f@#$ked over because of his political views and the diner, obviously a McCain supporter ,was being a vindictive. |
