She wants her maiden name back after 20 plus years together. Is this to say she is ashamed to have been with me? Grieving for the failed marriage is as everyone says, normal. It does take time but that will ease over time. As to her wanting her maiden name back, no it doesn't mean she is ashamed to have been married. She will be wanting to establish herself and "finding herself" again so the easiest way is to go back to the name she had before. Just my opinion..... |

That is SOOOOOOOO normal. The finality of it all smacks you right in the face. Mine was actually final the day of the court hearing, papers were done right there (is that odd?). I walked out of there feeling like a mac truck had just run me over. My only saving grace was a good friend had sent me a hilarious voice mail 2 minutes before I went into the courtroom. I saved it and listened to it every time I felt bad, including about a hundred times that same day. I still have it 1.5 years later and listen to it when I'm stressed or overwhelmed. Reach out to your friends, they'll be glad to help!

Count your blessings. Imagine if you'd been stuck with the wench ten years down the road and so much more damaged emotionally and mentally. This is your chance for a new start. You're lucky.

She wants her maiden name back after 20 plus years together. Is this to say she is ashamed to have been with me? Hell, I wanted her to use her maiden name. I didn't feel that she had a right to keep my name. Of course, she refused to. |
