My profile would be on the site just like it was for the first few months of my time here. It would be sitting there getting no views just like it did before.

No, w/o the forums I wouldn't be here. I can read other things that are alot more interesting then some profiles and there's pictures of all kinds of things I could look at that were more appealing then fish, etc. First coming to the forums, was a scarey thing for me, probably because I'm not an "out there person", a few people made that so much easier for me as time has gone by. I've learned a little but I've laughed alot!!

I've been on sites where they didn't have forums. For the most part, you create a profile and do searches for people who might appeal to you. Maybe someone messages you, maybe they don't. There's no real way to get yourself out there to a whole bunch of people at once.

Sure, you can send out 100 e-mails at random, do the whole scattershot thing, and maybe get some nibbles, but that's iffy at best.

The thing about the forums, you can get to know people, over time, and they can get to know you. It has a sort of a "community" feel to it, which I guess is why they use the word "community" at the top of the page....!

The forums keeps me here and yes, I may be a "JHS'er or Mingler" ( I have been called this) to some but who cares? I like people and as an added bonus I get great entertainment from the hilarious stuff posted in some of the threads.

I'd have grown bored and left a long time ago. I'd probably check my email once in a while.... maybe tweak the profile.

But I have to admit the forums are different for me than they were when I first started posting. I think, initially, I thought of it as an extension to the whole 'online dating' thing. Now it's really more of a place to come B.S., try to jump in to a fun thread or even a thought provoking one once in a while. Some of the biggest laughs I've had in some time have been in the mingle forums.

The forums also allow us to become acquainted, friends in some instances, with our own gender that otherwise, we'd not have the chance to get to know.

nope, i've deactivated several times, in fact i was close to deactivating the other day, but i like the forums, so i stick around.
