Are they merely a fashion statement or do they serve some other purpose? they are both..... great for cold weather,bugs, etc.... but some do wear them to look cool.

Sometimes, if I wear a helmet too long, it'll make my head start itching the "scarf" keeps that from happening so much.

Are they merely a fashion statement or do they serve some other purpose? for me, I do not like helmets. I wear a dew rag. Looks cool and fits the "image" but i think there is more to it. If you were to ride without a helmet or rag, and the wind blew through your hair for an extended period of time, it actually makes your scalp dry and it kinda itches!!!

there is a total purpose...first off, the look...but they do help if you wear a helmet to keep the sweat bumps from forming and keeping your hair form getting all nasty...and there's something sexy about them as well...prolly help in getting some tail...lol
