In one of the "wish book" catalogs I got today, the ad read one of the perfect gifts for a guy to give his wife, g/f, mother, etc. is a taser.

This is actually a good gift.

big enough for me and at least one other person...and green is my preference...but i suppose other colors could work tongue2

You know, money may not buy love, but it sure has helped bring joy to broken hearts.
Working at emergency relief shelters, the biggest thing was the food and the care packages that homeless people got. The exercise of care for strangers blessed their lives beyond words. Just to keep them with a shred of hope, for the road ahead.

My Christmas wish: Anonymously give something of meaning, from me, to the more needy. Not excess only, but something of personal effort.

Yea, there are scoundrels in such places, as I was there, too. But I help without requiring each man to be Saint John, or else I would help few indeed.

Bless your world, this day. drinker

Our local news station has been asking for help now for months...I suppose it's true in other cities, towns, etc. where all the food banks are running drastically low, so many more are now needing assistance, the soup lines are longer then ever, and the homeless shelters are over crowded and having to turn people away because of foreclosures. We can all give....food, clothing, money, etc. And we don't have to wait till Christmas to give!!!

For you I'm going to buy a squirrel cage, you need to separate those two!

The willingness of any person to help, to make a gesture, is the best news. My experience inside taught me that the donation drives where there is a barrel or such receptacle is the best means for the giver to remain anonymous. Although many of the experienced/regular donors deliver goods to the door of emergency shelters, I recommend the distant giving or to mail donations to offices of the emergency shelters.
Thank you, for your thoughtfulness.
Also, if anyone is interested, donations of food, clothing, and many items can be receipted, for the estimated value. If that is helpful on the tax deductions, then by all means, get receipts for sizeable donations of goods or for any money. It is just logical to reduce the tax burden of donors, to take the money from government and direct it towards local needs.

http://adoptaplatoon.org/new/

This is a web site to adopt a soldier(s). They will take your application and match you with a soldier(s). They often don't have access to basic things we take for granted: soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deoderant, pencils, paper (for writing home), feminine products (we have female soldiers too), socks, snacks, etc. Christmas time would be a great time to send a care pkg. The organization will give you a list of things your soldier(s) have requested.

I can wish that for you too, but I'll buy you a file folder to put them in, just like mine, so I can remember to keep the lights on!

I want my two daughters to have a great Christmas. Please all of you out there pray that my daughters get through this Christmas season. They just lost their father July 26th. He was only 46. They are devastated. Taking it one day at a time. Our girls are only 15 and 18 years old. Need all of the prayers we can get. Christmas time can be awful lonely.
