Topic: Election Overkill | |
---|---|
As an American, have you had enough of the Presidential "race"?
Do you find it a bit too much? Over here we are bombarded with it, so I can only imagine what it is like in the States? Our election process normally takes between 3 & 6 months from calling an election to getting the next idiot in, and after that we are exhausted!!! Just wondered will you be glad when its over? |

I will be very glad...When I turn on the computer it's there at the msn and yahoo pages, it's there on tv, newspapers and even people talking about it

I will be very happy when it's over. They just keep saying the same things in different ways. I don't even know why people believe half of what is said. Let's be honest, has anyone ever kept to all the promises that they say? NO. So why the long drawn out election period!

Let's be honest, has anyone ever kept to all the promises that they say? NO. So why the long drawn out election period! Indeed. It just gives people who base their entire lives around politics something to do. |

It's an unusually important election this year.

It's an unusually important election this year. That it is but it still doesn't have to be drawn out. Get to the point and lets vote. |

I am always hoping for the right outcome, I have been disappointed the last two elections. But I do feel a bit of relief when it is finally over. If the wrong one wins, like in the last two elections I have a great disappointment to get over and then I have to rebuild my trust of the American political systems so I can get ready to fight the good fight for the next one. |

Well lucky for you neither candidate this time around is worth a sack of spit. So really it doesn't matter who wins this time. We're pretty much screwed either way. Yay!!!

Wiley, Did you feel that way about the last election and the one before that? I'm just curious. Nah. I think Gore should have won in 2000. I think Kerry was a joke in 2004. (Almost like the DNC wanted Bush to win again.) This time around we've got marxist vs. marxist lite though. There isn't any real difference between them except in how they push their socialism. I think Ron Paul is a nut, but he made some very good points. Hell he even nailed the AGI thing on the head several months ago. |

A buddy of mine pointed this out on another discussion board I frequent:
Why I oppose Obama on the issues.
He supported the 850 billion dollar bailout. He supports Cap and Trade. He opposes drilling in ANWR. He supports Georgia becoming a member of NATO. He supports aid and perhaps troops to Darfur. He supports the Law of the Sea Treaty He supports federal funding for stem cell research. He supports going "green" He blames Capitalistic GREED for our problems He supports open borders and a path to citizenship of millions of illegal aliens His promises add over 3 trillion in debt according to some non partisan sources. Tip: He really opposes both McCain and Obama. He simply pointed out that McCain/Obama are the same on these issues. (This was mainly to catch McCain supporters who were simply bashing Obama because he's a democrat and not because they disagree with his positions. Genius if you ask me.) |

I won't be happy when it's over...because people will be lazy all over again.
Will most of the posters on either side really step up? Till they have piss and moan fodder. Then there will be another round of finger pointing, name calling horse$hit. Will any of the haters step up and begin to organize for a third party? You can post but can you volunteer for a political, environmental or community cause...I doubt it. What's that line? Everybody's funny...and now you are funny too. I am cynical and discouraged by the behavior of nearly everyone right now. |

I am going to review it to see if what your friend said is true. I don't know all of those issues. But..I, also, support stem cell research and I knew that he did too. McCain supports it too, though. |

As long as the majority has the "voting 3rd party is throwing your vote away" mentality, there will never be any 3rd party candidates getting elected. That's just how it is.
And personally, I think all the political parties should be done away with. A candidate should be elected for what they believe in, not what party they are a member of. |

You have to look at their voting records in the Senate. (You should already know this from McCain as much as he waffles just in his speeches.) And supporting stem cell research is great. I support it too. I just don't support Federal funding for it. Both candidates do. |
