Why is it that almost every time a Celebrity sings the National Anthem they butcher it? I wish they would sing it the way it was intended.

I think Karen Newman ( the woman who sings the National Anthem for the Red Wings home games ) should just do ALL of them.

Oh, say! Can you see?
By the dawn's early light, What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming? 'Twas not a flag, nor lustrous filament of weave, but the common good, my fellows, that we abided here to preserve and to make worthy for our sons and daughters to inherit. For without our blood, our tears, the sacrifice of years and lives and many other things, what worth or dedication have we to endear our ways to our ancestors? They will have faith in the good intentions of our hearts, and in the certainty that we stood by the hope of their lives to come. For I do not war to save the memory of Abraham, Martin, and John, but to give life and space to the hopes for my neighbor's children to grow up in freedom. And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air, gave proof through the night that our flag was still there. Oh, say! Does that star spangled banner yet wave, o'er the Land of the Free, and the home of the brave? |
