A long time female friend and coworker.

I'd rather receive a gift cert from either Musician's Friend (online/catalog music equipment store) or from Summit Auto Performance (online/catalog auto parts store), personally. Only Clay Aiken-types would even THINK to entertain going to a day spa.

Well I see a couple of reasons to give this gift.
One you need some sprucing up, which is kind of hard to say with the cute picture you have up.

Two, It may be just a thoughtful gift to someone that doesn't spend enough time pampering themselves and they thought you could use a day of being catered to.

Oh wait here is a third if given by a woman she may be wanting you to say. " Hun I don't have time for this why don't you use it instead of me."

Interesting viewpoints expressed. Usually, I like to pamper myself by downing a few Maker's Marks over ice.

What could it hurt to use it? If you don't like the results...at least you would have a point of context.

The oposite end of the spectrum: Me my bro & sis kicked in $50 a piece for a spa certificate for Christmas. Dad found out that she didn't use it...her response "I don't have to use it if I don't want to"

We no longer give her Christmas presents....we get them for Mom AND Dad.

I'd say there is no problem with going to the Spa to be pampered, but I'm "Metro" and delightfully Camp. laugh

I've never been to one. I suspect it's a front for some sort of bizarre cult.
