It is noteworthy that the deployment of US combat troops "as an on-call federal response force for natural or manmade emergencies and disasters"—in the words of the Army Times—coincides with the eruption of the greatest economic emergency and financial disaster since the Great Depression of the 1930s.

Justified as a response to terrorist threats, the real source of the growing preparations for the use of US military force within America’s borders lies not in the events of September 11, 2001 or the danger that they will be repeated. Rather, the domestic mobilization of the armed forces is a response by the US ruling establishment to the growing threat to political stability.

Under conditions of deepening economic crisis, the unprecedented social chasm separating the country’s working people from the obscenely wealthy financial elite becomes unsustainable within the existing political framework.

And what happens when the sky doesn't fall? You will breath a sigh of relief and say "The word got out in time!". Somehow, you will convince yourselves that you (talking about this in a conspiratorial whisper) made a difference.

I will petition to have this thread moved into the jokes forum, it sure has made me laugh.

Funny how non americans were suggesting these sorts of possibilities right here in these forums a few years ago.... economic downturn, the whole home defence thingo, the excess of troops and what may be done with them post iraq, etc....

and now it is ok to talk about it... after the non americans were slammed six ways of sunday for it...

but then what would we know???

yes well...I can see this happening if DEMS get control over the govt.

For sure & you heard it here.

...but I'm sure the many who voted for them will be in just as much denial then as they are now. Pity...

When are people going to stop the political party bickering & realize it's allthe same thing? We need to vote almost all of them out.

1st of all I wasn't here a few years ago. Secondly, I don't "slam non Americans".
I have been talking about this for years, when was it not OK?
There will always be people who believe whatever the government tells them, they mistake acceptance for patriotism.

I am one American who listens to the outside world.

I believe that a person on the outside of whatever situation can see from a vantage point that cannot be seen by those involved.

I was not here for the posts though, sorry I missed it.
