I'm sorry, but the majority of gamers are gamers for a reason. It is not unlike a drug addiction. It is an escape from reality, and that escape takes precedence over real life, including you. I don't date gamers, period.
Too many bad memories and more than that, it is the mindset gamers have about life and the way they see the world. I know this offend a lot of people, but RPG players are one of the biggest red flags for me in a relationship sense. I don't date gamblers either, for they are overlapping in similarities. JMO |

My exBF is a gamer. WoW addicted BIG time. He wanted to get married, but my sons were disgusted with his inability to have a work ethic. I do understand.

What's wrong with gamers? Gamers are awesome! The stuff you do on a game you cant do in real life, well, in most cases. So when I see a guy who is level 70 with epics, defeating a world boss, I want to go to that guy and learn everything he knows, and I would want to be with him. To be able to control a character and make him/her your own, is unbelievably awesome. And playing video games are good for you, dont believe me, check out this link:

And life as we know it is basically over, in the next 5 years, the depression is going to strike, all you people working hard and saving money are wasting their time. Might as well have as much fun as we can. (w/o drugs and mindless sex that could spread std's) Video games are safe. You might have a career, but it's not going to matter.

I know that doing stuff in real life is more fulfilling, I do, but the stuff I want to do in life is just not possible to me right now, and may never be, soo, in the meantime, I'm going to enjoy a good game of WoW. And even when I do find my niche in life, (which will have to be in the next five years) I will still be playing video games.

Then u r like-minded and it wouldnt bother u, but imo, anything that takes u away from reality is a form of escapism, and escapism is not a good thing when overdone, particularly when u have a partner in the room with u, i would see that as ignorant and inconsiderate. The stuff you do on a game you cant do in real life, well, in most cases
Yup, and thats cos it is a GAME and its not real, on the flip side, there is much to be enjoyed in the real world, that u cant do online. Like any addiction, the lines of reality and fantasy become fogged. |

Yes, fighting dragons and saving princesses does have merit in the real world.... |

What is going to happen in five years is what I want to know? The depression? As in Grapes of Wrath? No f-ing way.... really, that defeatist? And why is the poster going to bother with a career if life as we know it will end?
Is this propaganda escapism believing what you read on blogs or what. I think I must be on something.... Pink your reply was so very tactful. |
