I don't believe that Obama is playing the race card. He is half white and half black. Which one is he supposed to be playing the card for? Everyone knows that being "white" is not considered to be of any "ethnic" background........... And I didn't point blank say he was playing any card.........but there are people who support him that do so simply because part of him is "black". It matters little to me, I will probably vote for him when elections come, because I like him better than McCain. I honestly don't know which card he supposedly is playing. And I never said that HE was.......so I'm not sure why you keep posting that??? I said, some people play it FOR him..... That bothers me, not he himself...and as I said, that isn't going to effect how I vote, either. I am not arguing with you. I was trying to learn about the race card because I have not seen evidence of it.  You had said, "I like Obama, but if race doesn't matter, then why does he play the "race card"? Sorry..........I took it the wrong way. I don't keep track of everything I read or hear.............let me just say it was an impression. Having Jesse James Jr in ur campaign.......probably had an effect. Therefore black people wernt voting for him in the early goin regardless of race... that kinda goes against your logic doesn't it? when he proved otherwise black people voted for him.

I don't care what color or what ever you are. I wont vote. There all puppets and everyone says there going to change things. All i see is things geting worse. I think the most reason i wont vote for anything. is when you do and some people don't like it. it can be changed so whats the point? I agree. This time in our history is a critical time. We need EVERYBODY out there voting to help make a change. We must have change! |

It's America, we're all guilty of an "ism"- racism, sexism, ageism, nationalism, and of course you have homophobia, which doesn't have an ism at the end. Anyway, it's unrealistic to expect Americans to throw away their deepseated prejudices just because they passed laws saying "we shouldn't do this" or "we shouldn't do that." You may not be allowed to do "this" or "that" any longer, but the law didn't erase what's inside you- it restricted your actions.
I have white friends who are surprised when I tell them stories about racism I've experienced, "because they have laws against that." It's as if once the government said you can't hang a black person or lawfully segregate the public schools or prevent interracial marriage or make us use the back door or the black fountain or whatever, the hatred and ignorance ceased. That is irrational, laws can modify behavior- to an extent- but they do not change hearts or beliefs. I'm interested to see who will this election, for whatever reason they win. |
