Going through some Mutual Match candidates this morning, it struck me that there are some reasonably local people (I have my settings at 250 miles) with really attractive pics. I have always noticed a few trickling through, now and then, but lately it seems like there are more than usual. The problem is, the MM screen always includes at least a portion of the profile text, and this is pretty much a sure bet to be a disappointment. Most of these profiles are less interesting than the Op-Ed page of Napkin Folder's Monthly; meaning no disrespect to the napkin people, but come on, already.... Beautiful & interesting at the same time? Is that possible? I've run into that....but very rarely....another entry for the Endangered Species List.... I find less and less men on here who even bother to put anything interesting in their profiles. An attractive picture on a website doesn't do much for me. There has to be something else there. |

Maybe I've just been lucky, or there are more beautiful and interesting here in so cal because I don't seem to have this issue.
I've met a handful of people from this site locally and have not been disappointed

I've met a handful of people from this site locally and have not been disappointed Must be nice....I haven't met anyone from here -- and I think a big part of it is because Illinois is something of a dead zone on this site -- lots of Illinois members, but no one really participating....can't even get a decent conversation going with a local, let alone an actual meeting.... |

That's why every profile I read says "I don't know what to write here" and "Anything you want to know, you'll have to ask" and "I'm laid back and easy-going" and "I love my friends" and "No game players" and "I like to go out or stay in." I saw one this morning that said "I'm really bad at writing about myself" and I just wanted to tell her "It's really not that difficult, and if you can't do it, go take a class or something." I really think some people's brains will explode if they're ever required to have an original thought.... |
