Gotta gives some posters credit for being persistent. Can they discuss the issues at hand? Not much but they do seem to find a way to link nearly any issue to their agenda of idiocy and name calling.
Hat's of to single minded devotion to the party line! The sky is blue....because of the criminal unpatriotic libs! Water is wet....because of the criminal unpatriotic libs! Dogs bark...because of the criminal unpatriotic libs! People are sheep... Bush sent members of my family to die based on a lie. He is a treasonous criminal and a national embarrassment. That my sweet is from a member of a family with a dead soldier!!!! I can't take this without speaking out anymore. Please kindly don't put words in the families who have lost loved ones. Speak for yourself if you'd like. If you have suffered that lose you have my sympathies. No one deserves to deal with that. But don't speak for me or my family. It's offensive. So, how do you feel about felons voting? |

Well here is my issue with this issue.
(BTW I am not a felon) The term Felony is pretty broad. In some cases a felony can be judicated, that means the severity of the crime ie MD, or felony can be completely determined by the PA, or Judge on a whim with no checks. Its a broad term. I think it should be based on the type of crime committed, it would make it more complex, but more fair. A drunk guy pees on a fence and gets caught in some states its considered a sex crime and is a felony he gets registered and losses rights . . . . . . . thats stupid. |

When they commit a crime they are punished by being incarcerated. I think once they are out they should have the same right to vote as anyone else.

I learn something new everyday. Do you think they should be able to vote? Yes they should be allowed, after all they've paid their debt to society, right? first of all if they spend 2 years for shooting a guy...that's not right... second of all...i'm not saying we're going to give the guy a gun again...i'm asking why, if after paying his dues for being stupid can't he have the right to vote again. |

That's a good question, Becca. I don't have the answer. All I know is that each state handles it differently. |

I think some of the ones posting in here know damn good and well why that debt to society is never really considered payed in full!
Same damn reason when anyone important is in the spotlight, no matter how much good stuff they have done, people are going to point out that one bad thing. It's been said time and time again, why should we give anyone praise for doing good, it's what they should have been doing all along, the fact of the matter is so and so broke the law. I got a misdemeanor charge when I was a teenager and still ten years later it follows me around. It doesn't go away and it always comes up. It usually makes whatever I trying to do a little harder, more questions and a lot more paperwork. Believe me, the debt is never fully paid. Certain crimes, mean the loss of certain rights. That's just the way it is. How can we justify losing the right to bear arms and not justify losing the right to vote. Most people committing these crimes probably know the law anyway, if they want to keep voting, maybe they change their lifestyle a little bit. |
