I live in a chicago suburb and there aren't too many woman around. Why
is that?

I have noticed that many people don't respond to messages. I don't know
why that is. Good luck to you, though.

I live in a Chicago suburb, too, sort of, and I get all kinds of e-mail
here, but almost none from anybody local. And I know there are lots of
locals on here because I set up my search parameters to see who is
nearby....

See thats the thing I always go out and its easy to meet people. But
sometimes that seem s more like an interview, which it is but come on.
Here you can at least talk to the person so when you meet them it isn't
as much of that. Or so I would assume. But we all know what assuming
does. The fact is I guess that there is no way around the formalities
but it just seemed like it would make things a little less awkward. I
must having been asking for a little much. Who knows?

Well, I live in a town where I am reliably informed it is impossible to
meet someone unless you go to a bar or a church. Since I don't drink
and I'm an atheist, those are not good options for me.

So I thought I would try the internet and see what happened. I met two
girls last year, one on Plenty of Fish, one on OK Cupid, both absolute
train wrecks of dishonesty! Tried Singlesnet, lots of replies, nobody
fit the parameters though.

At this point, I'm not even interested in meeting anyone in person, just
trying to make a few friends. And I find it interesting that, because I
post a lot on the forums, I get literally hundreds of e-mails, but
almost none from people in the "area." Just seems kind of odd, but it's
not something I'm going to spend a lot of time worrying about.

Yep. It's goota be hard with those options but its good that you don't
stray from what you know you want.

BG -- I don't know what it is about Illinois, there are plenty of
Illinois and Indiana people on the site, they just don't seem to want to
be bothered. I get e-mails from lots of other states and Canada, but
I've only heard from a handful of locals. I keep hoping some new ones
will show up who actually want to talk to someone!

I respond to ninety percent of emails and email guys that advertise they
are looking for a friend, a woman or someone to spend time with. I don't
bite..... on first dates. So, am I only friend material????

Sherry, I think you're an exception to the general rule. I think I have
actually been contacted by 3 Illinois people since I signed up here. I
have been contacted by over 30 people from Canada in the same time
frame. Sure, Canada is bigger than Illinois, but still, you would think
the distance factor would kick in at some point.

Last week, I started a thread which generated a lot of replies, and I
got about 70 e-mails in one day. How many do you think were from people
in Illinois or Indiana? None. Why is that? I don't know, I simply
have no idea how to explain that.

And I have my search parameters set up to show local people in my "New
Matches" area, and all of those people are supposed to be within 150
miles of me, and there are several dozen who cycle through the list at
least once every day, others who cycle through less frequently, but
there are pages and pages of them altogether.

And I can see when they are on line, and I assume some of them are
looking at the forums, but I just don't hear from any of them. If I was
actually looking for a girlfriend right now, I think I'd feel neglected
and hurt!

I was going to say, you guys have Indiana and Illinois really
close...there should be lots of women!! Maybe its the age group? I don't
think there are that many snobby women on here...atleast I haven't seen
that many. If you are sending emails, maybe they just haven't had a
chance to answer back?
I know that I don't get on here every day due to one thing or
another...so don't give up hope just yet!! I am sure that when you don't
expect to find someone, you will!! Happy hunting guys
PS....women do go places other then churches and bars, try the stores,
like walmart...I heard that on saturdays is the best day to go, thats
when all the single dads have their children!! So, lots of single moms
will be looking for the guys

i don't know y women here in chicago r so funny style, it just don't
make no kind of sense at all. i sumtimes go out sumwhere 2 talk 2 a
woman in a polite matter, n it just seem like they not in a mood 2 b
bothered. sum women i talk 2 out there they were nice, but after awhile
they got sumthing under their sleeves n wuts under their sleeves isn't
all dat pretty.

Yeah, I think I'm just going to move to Canada or New York or someplace

Sherry, if it's any consolation, I think you have a sweet smile and you
sound pretty cool. If I were a guy, I'd take you out! Just hang in
there. It's tough but I have faith that the right one will be worth the
wait!
