Robert E. Lee- War for Southern Independence Hero. Not a slave owner.

Worse 'Hero' of the civil war...

Sheridan. Only US General to make war on US CIVILIANS.

'Scorched earth policy' during the march to the sea.

Farms, Men, women and children died at his orders.

Cool.

It was a little off topic, but since there was some talk about Ronald Reagan I figured I would throw it out there!winking

Lincoln: 2 years in the House, helped create the new Republican Party, could have been U.S. senator but allowed someone else to be appointed for party balance (former Democrat given the spot. Lincoln was a former Whig). Total: 2 years

Honest Abe: Only American president to order Mass Execution! Lincoln, in 1862, selected 39 Native Americans to be executed, whose guilt could not be positively determined, just to get the white votes he needed from Minnesota.

Compassionate fighter for human rights and liberty.... Yeah right!

There is no age discrimination issue here. laugh

Perhaps you need to re-read your own post. Criticizing Senator John McCain for his age and health.

I am astonished that you actually printed this post after your statement in your prior post. Do you think people forget so eaily?

Lindyy

There was no criticizing of his age. His age is a fact.

Also, since you brought up Regan, his mental capacities had diminished the last 2 years of his term.

Well, let's refresh your memory..
"Even though she is not running for President, her chances of becoming one later are higher than usual. McCain is no spring chicken and not the healthiest either."

EVERY candidate (V.P. and Pres.) need to be looked at very closely. This is a serious election.

First, you emit an assumptive opine that "McCain is not spring chicken" which is criticalness of his age.

Then you blantently LIE about his health:
"McCain is no spring chicken and not the healthiest either."

And, please provide where you got you facts about Ronald Reagan's mental state:
"Also, since you brought up Regan, his mental capacities had diminished the last 2 years of his term."

You certainly appear to be prejudiced against one's age.

NOW, WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY DIMINISHED? AND, AGAIN, PROVIDE YOUR FACTS.

So, if you are going to apply brain conditions to Republican Presidents, let us take a look at Biden and I suffice to say that in all due diligence....we must question Biden, who, most definitey had a 'diminished' brain condition from the brain aneurism. OR does this 'diminished' condition only apply to Republicans?

Lindyy

Get a grip, Lindyy. You're going over the top on this.

His diminishing mental capacity had nothing to do with him being a Republican.

Regan was in the first stages of Alzheimers Disease during the last two years of Presidency. Alzheimers starts before others see the signs of it, btw.

In 2003, male life expectancy was 74.8 years. Female life expectancy was 80.1 years, btw.

Getting a little 'stressed' never helps one look intellectual.....

It appears that you cannot handle being challenged for facts.....once again you make statements with nothing to back them up other than you think everyone is going to believe what you say just because YOU say it.

I want facts..............Simple as that......

BTW you yourself will be in your 70's......keep that in mind before you are trying to use the age factor in determining one's capabilites and life expectency......

Lindyy
JUST STATING THE FACTS MAM

Yep, getting a little stressed never helps one look intellectual.....

The age expectancies (Mayo Clinic) and Ronald Regan's Alzheimers are not something that I made up.laugh

Again, no facts to support such statements. I simply cannot comprehend why one would discriminate against anyone because of age or health.

Especially with no facts to back up the discriminatory remarks.

Now, there is factual proof about Biden having a brain aneurism, yet there is no derrogatory remarks about Biden......and

There is factual proof that Biden committed plagerism and thus, had to withdraw from running for the presidency several years ago.....and no derrogatory remarks about him....a known DAMOCRAT.

There appears to be blatent discrimination against people of the Republican party.

I wonder why?

Okay once more slowly....

The Age Discrimination Act of 1975 prohibits discrimination in employment based on age and protects individuals who are 40 years of age or older from employment discrimination based on age.

No one here is saying McCain should not be allowed to run because of his age.

Several of us are saying that his age is one of the factors that gives us pause when considering voting for him.

Once more, if anyone advocated not allowing McCain to run based on his age that would be age discrimination. Declining to vote for him because his age places him at higher risk of dying in office is not age discrimination.

Now if that was the sole reason someone decided not to vote for McCain then I would see it as silly. That is if all the other factors were equal. Still, it is a significant factor given the demands of the presidency.

Question...are all republicans over 70?
(No need to reply to that. It is humor)

of course we are ageistic, legal or not it exists.

would you hire a Mexican National as a carpenter that is 25 years old for $15/hour or a 50 year old union or otherwise accomplished white, born and bred American carpenter for $45-50/hr?

You can get three Mexican Nationals with gren cards for one American carpenter with a family and a mortgage and get things done, using wishful thinking, in a third of the time.

Or, for a savings of 65% and less demands for fair treatment under threat of deportation.

now compound this in every industry involving craftsmen and tradesmen and you have a different picture to look at, huh?

Older Americans are kicked to the curb every day.

And judging McCain on this basis is absurd, but age discrimmination exists and it is a hollow argument to employ discrimination against McCain in the ballot box for his age.

How convenient and lazy to suggest it is a moral reason, let alone an ethical one not to vote for Mc cain on the basis of his age.

Clearly, it could also be about sexism if Palin were to become President, should Mc Cain assume room temperature.

you know, she should be at home raising kids.

yeah right, like NOW and Gloria Steinem will fall for that.

They only want that for Palin as long as she represents christian, prolife, conservative values.

You know, I had to come back to this thread to mention this.

Might earn me a little discipline but oh well...the truth as they say, will set you free.

Lindyy, you complain about age discrimination against McCain when people doubted his fitness for office but aren't you the same poster who in one thread said that people who were not Christians opinions didn't count?

What's that?

aw....

no big deal.

she wants this in the White House.

why?

who knows.......

her candidate for change just loves to say the most charming things, and nurture the most intimate of friendships based on inclusion and plurality.

read for yourself how wonderful he is.

I give you....

obama, the man.

He will not make the following things public:

1. His actual birth certificate
2. His college transcripts
3. His medical records
4. Records from the days he worked with Bill Ayers
5. His parents were both radical communist activists
6. He was raised by his grandparents -not by a single mother she was always traveling the world learning/spreading communism.
7. How he traveled to Pakistan for 3 weeks during college with an Indonesian passport (WTF?). After he returned he changed his name to Barack Hussein Obama JR. He went with his room mates named Muhamid and Salid.
8. Founder of black panthers financed his college tuition at Harvard
9. He thinks America is the oppressor of the world and wants it destroyed
10. Not one person remembers him at Columbia, not one!

Here are a few lines from Obama's books ' his words:

-- From Dreams of My Father: 'I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.'

-- From Dreams of My Father: 'I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother’s race.'

-- From Dreams of My Father: 'There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.'

-- From Dreams of My Father: ; 'It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.'

-- From Dreams of My Father: 'I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa, that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, Dubois and Mandela.'

-- From Audacity of Hope: 'I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.'

It's as if people are willing McCain to die. Fella don't have a snowballs chance in hell if people keep carrying on this way.

Ancient Chinese proverb: "Tell a warrior he may die in battle tomorrow and he will find a way to make it happen."

If you don't want race to be a factor, age shouldn't be a discussion either!

You are correct. Age and race should not be a factor.

I would like to add that gender should not be a factor either.

FYI. Life expectancy is not written in stone. It is determined by a number of things in a society. The availablity of quality of health care, life style, stress, family history, diet, and job just to name a few.

If you want facts about the determining factors of life expectancy check out the Mayo Clinics website.

The harsh reality is this. The Presidentcy is a very stressful job. And stress has a negative effect on one's immune system. Not to mention it can increase the risk of cardio vascular disorder. Some reachers are also investigating stress as one factor that increases risk to certain forms of cancer.

I am not supporting McCain because of his age. I am not supporting him because of his policies.

Does anybody else here disagree with the fact that Ronald Regan had Alzheimers Disease showing up towards the end of his presidency?

Roosevelt died in office after years of suffering. should he have not been President too?

sorry I was thinking of Eisenhower who also had a stroke in office and was basically a grinning idiot at the end of his term
