A lot of people in here have said they are real, but very few have said how they can prove it. Saying you are real doesnt mean anything.

Ive met loads of people and have pictures posted of it on my page, and i have a web cam.

How do we know this isn't an actor hired by someone named Fred to be a completely fake Dan with photos meeting people and a web cam and nose fingers and everything!? s'ok with me though even if you are just doing what Fred asked you to do...

Anybody that goes to the trouble of firstly, using someone elses pics, then ask them to cam on their behalf must have an awful lot of time on their hands!! AND a great relationship with the person who doesnt mind them using their pics, or asking them on a whim to cam! silly really!

Im a believer in cams......Dan is defo real! lol! i know cos hes my RL boyfriend! And yes, we have met a lot of friends online and visited the US and Canada, and had our pics taken with them.

Online communities r great, and they become stronger when meets r held, and ppl get to see pics of all the diff members together, its nice.

Everyone is diff, depends wat ur online for. For me, i like to know the person im talkin to is real in the first instance, e.g. look same as their pics. If it turned out not to be them, i would assume they have lied for a reason, and i wouldnt wanna continue it.

What's real ? what you have made up in your Mind about some one. Just from there profile . Or what you took the time to find out about them from one letter . It takes years to get to know someone not one minute of someone judging you that don't

Nobody mentioned 1 letter.....the site Dan n I came from was rife with fakes (as im sure most sites like this are), and u learn OVER time if they r genuine or not, whether that be their pic, or their attitude/motivation for being on the site.

If ppl ARE real, then they should have no worries...right?

I mean, we dont walk around in clubs/pubs with masks unless its halloween, so why do it online?

Ppl make judgements online all the time, and they r allowed, afterall, the onus is on ourselves to be safe. A person may make a judgement against me for being picky with who i befriend, or the fact that i was an unmarried mum, and thats ok, i dont mind, so if i think someone is fake, that is ok too, i just dont speak to them.

No, i wanna debate issues in a forum.

No we don't but there are a lot of people on here how want to be not judged by there looks . And i can't blame there for not wanting to show them self's they want to be seen with there word's and how they act nothing wrong in that .So who am i to call them fake unless i get to know them and then find out for sure they are fake . Then i will say it all day long . So it's a two way street you see what i mean and like you said you do find out the truth over time
By how they act online but i myself am not going to judge them from one letter or or a few post on here because it would not be the right thing for me to do I am not the type to rush into anything i have time and it tells all

As humans, we make judgements all the time, and we r entitled to. I never have, and never will judge a person cos of their looks, but i will make a judgement on someone who tries to decieve me by pretending they r someone else.

Imo, it is the ppl themselves who feel like that who r placing too much emphasis on their looks, and it shows me that they r making assumptions about the ppl they would like to meet, not everyone is shallow and looks for attractiveness, most ppl just want a person to be themselves, thats when u see the true character.

Let me add, im talkin about ppl who use fake pics, not ppl who dont use a pic.

I have met a few people in person. We are still friends, but that is all that either one of us expected from the beginning. I enjoy meeting people. Of course I was want the one to go and meet them in a public place where they were comfortable.

I also have invited people who have the same interest in photography to come to a photography club meeting. That way it is a public place and they meet several people with the same interest. It is an enjoyable free way to make new friends. After the meeting a lot of the members and new comers go out to a local restaurant to socialize.

i rarely even talk to people that i don't know for certain are real, either by my having met them, or their having met someone that i've met

even that doesn't guarantee their 'character' but at least it indicates that i'm taking to a person who is accurately portrayed by the photos they are depicting on their profile.

i'm a bit (a lot) anal about it, but i don't mind if that's the way i come across to others. like pink lady said, my safety - and that of my kids - is paramount.

I can vouch for this woman, she's very real and a sweetheart in real life.....even if she does come across otherwise online!

Now Dan is a completely different story.... one of those skeery story you tell around a campfire to frighten children!
