Oh yeah...it's one of those movies that is nothing more than propaganda on the " Evils of Wal Mart ".
What the movie fails to mention is that Wal Mart is not unlike any other large corporation that just happens to employ hundreds upon hundreds of people in this country, while making things affordable for the people who can afford them the least. The movie makes absolutely sure to point out how evil Wal Mart is...all the things that happen at the Chinese factories ( which Wal Mart does NOT own by the way, although the movie sure does make it sound that way ), how the Chinese are " forced " to do hard labor for slave wages ( although that couldn't POSSIBLY have anything to do with the fact that China has no labor standards to speak of now could it??? )...blah blah blah.... So here's an idea. Wal Mart is so utterly eeeeevvvviiiilllll that we should just shut them all down and put thousands MORE people out of work and make sure there is no competition to the other mega chains so that they can charge whatever the hell they want for the things they sell. That sounds like a FABULOUS way to get the economy back on track. Doesn't it??? OH!!! One other thing. That movie ALSO fails to mention that immediately after hurricane Katrina....while the government was sitting on their a*ses with a dumbfounded look on their faces...Wal Mart ( yes, the same eeeeevvvviiiilllll Wal Mart that the movie takes great joy in railing against ) sent several hundred trucks of water and canned goods to the people in New Orleans DAYS before the government did anything at all. |

I wasn't offended. Sorry if I came off that way. I just get rather irritated when people rail against that particular company. Hell..I almost got myself thrown out of the union I belong to because they started spouting off against Wal Mart. I look at it this way. Not one huge corporation is perfect. Wal Mart has done things and made mistakes just like every other big company. The problem is, that movie completely ignores that the things that Wal Mart has done are nothing compared to what other huge corporations have done and are still doing. |
