Well with her something is working for her or karma is on her side either way some want to put it. She was not suppose to live more then a year but is still here after 5. At this time she is in really bad shape and not doing well. But within her mind it has been God's will that has keep her here this long. And if she believes that the prayers do work then within her mind they do. And that is all that really matters as long as that person believes then whom are we to deny them of what they believe or don't believe.

They say that if we believe anything enough it will happen.bigsmile

I was taught regardless whether someone believes in what you believe in never to judge them for their belief. Nor should one shove down their throat what they believe in. You should take a person for what they are and let them live their life as they see fit not how we think they should.

My Grandmother was a very wise Woman!!bigsmile

Well this question comes up more then most realize it not only on the threads but.. I have also gotten e-mails concerning all the prayer threads.

I do understand ones that question the threads but also understand why they are posted. The ones I don't understand is asking for prayers when it comes to money or jobs ect..

Those things that are considered material things. Well wishes yeah I can see that for those things I wish all could have what they want.

But when I post to a prayer thread at that time I say a small prayer to wish them to get well or good news on test results at that time.

I do understand that many do not like to see these post in General as well and I do understand that. That is the reason I have asked for a Prayer & Well Wishes Forum in order to have a place for all these threads since we do have many of them they do need a forum of there own. Not saying they will make a Forum for them but it has been requested.bigsmile

But in the long run if it brings a smile to their face just the thought that someone does care enough to respond then so be it. Let them have that smile one never knows what they are going through.

Just for thought...... there is a lady on a game site I play on she has been battling Cancer for several years now. She keeps all her friends updated and of course she ask for prayers to heal her. Yep I'm on that list and do send them. If my simple prayer helps her fight the battle whom am I to deny such a small request?
myself, I don't think we need another thread just for thatnoway

I think a proportion of the threads asking for prayers are made simply by people wanting some attention, and people go as far as entirely making up the situation that the prayers are being asked for. There is someone here i know to be fake that did this just the other day.

Sometimes the situation is not made up, but the reason for posting the thread is still attention, or sympathy.

But then some people do believe in the power of prayer and positive thought and its entirely genuine. If it helps them deal with the situation then i guess there is nothing wrong with doing this.

Personally i am not religious and do not pray, and i do not believe in the power of positive thought. However now and again i may post and send my well wishes.

Some people though take things to an unnecessary level..My aunties friends hairdressers dog broke its leg, or something...I have much more to concern myself over, i will generally lose interest before i even finish reading the post.

Dan, I do remember a thread about a person going to work and asking us to pray for this person to be safe. I never really recovered from the shock of that, I don't think.

I know I felt loved and people actually cared.
They took time to think about someone elses needs.
And at times most people have problems of their own.And a lot of them don't even know you.

And when your Doctor's tell your family there isn't any more they can do for you, but make you
comfortable, and you believe in God and prayer and
you're still here. I thank all daily.

I feel Blessed

My honest opinion alot of the time is why? See, it hasent changed my feelings eitherway. Then going back to the way question. I have to look at it as there doing it not because they have to, but it's something i have to look at, as it is somthing in them that makes them feel good that they might be helping somone in some way. I can't say it makes me feel good, but i know it don't make me feel bad lol. I just say to them thank you.

I understand what your saying, sometimes people too much out there, when I need advice etc. I turn to family or friends in real life. I try not to take anything on the internet too seriuous. That's not to say that people in the military & such don't need prayers.JMO

I'll pray for our soldiers or the sick. It doesn't hurt.

Our soldiers are just following orders, many themselves may not want to be there but they have to be.

Exactly

I posted asking for support when my brother died over a year and a half ago. I posted a thread the night before his funeral asking for strength to get through the funeral. I got some incredible responses on the thread, real support from my friends. I don't know where I stand on the religion issue either, but I know the day of his funeral I kept thinking about the wonderful things people had said to me in that thread, and it really did help me survive a horrible day. flowerforyou

When I post to a prayer thread, I truly do think about the person and keep them in my thoughts for days, hoping things are going better for them.

I post prayer threads in general discussion so they are seen by more people. I know that BabyGurl posted about her grandma passing away (Karmafury's mother) a couple of days ago - and she posted it in the religion thread and it was pretty much ignored. They are awesome people and I wish more people had seen and posted to their thread to support them. My thoughts anyways. flowerforyou

 There are many people who need to FEEL the SUPPORTof others.
And PRAYERS are just one way for them to FEEL they our in the thoughts of other people.

The way alot of people were raised, THEY were brought up to believe in GOD and the act of PRAYER was to bring a matter before GOD to know you also have THAT person in your heart.

This PRAYER POST thing has come about THROUGH the DESIRE to have someone LOOK at their issue, and or KNOW their ISSUE, or to mainly "FEEL" the "SUPPORT" of others wanting to help them.

Isee it like this.
If a PRAYER makes another FEEL closer to GOD or closer to ALL-OF-US? Why not?
And TRULLY it is a way of KNOWING a friend is going through a hard time!
And to many folks THEY feel more connected through this act.
I have ran many PRAYER posts and will for who-ever might THINK, it helps THEM,wink.

But MANY NOW, feel the word GOD or PRAYER or PRAY should"""ONLY""" be spoken in the religion Forum.

I DON'T feel that way, nor do I see GOD a problem at all for believing in him, a I do, wink..

But WE ALL have the right to ask, ANY questions or SPEAK ANY opinions on these pages..

Peace, Love and be YOU! drinker

I love a book title I saw ..

"No Athiests in Fox Holes"

I think when we go thru hard times, it's a major comfort and strength to know others care enough to beseech God on our behalf. I've never started a "pray for me thread" on here or elsewhere (I'm more private and reserved), BUT .. when I post on one that I will pray I do it right then., so I don't forget.

As to the military, d*mn straight I'll pray for their safety and wellbeing, their ability to strategize and think defensively. They are out in the front lines for our freedoms (directly &/or indirectly) .. If I had the where with all to be there I would want others prayin for me

As to starting a separate forum section for threads of such nature, heck if Mingle does that would you please start some forum sections that would remove out of our public eye threads such as about poop, toilet paper, picking their noses yada yada. LMAO. Or the Hi or I'm Going to Bed threads yawn yawn yawn yawn

I'm glad there was alot of yyou that had an open mind to share what your opinion was and didn't take this thread as me just criticizing. It was just a feeling that i been feeling and i'm humon so i'm going to experiences things like this. Anyway. Thank you everyone for sharing...
