Taking DNA from a rape victim is not accusing another of a crime. It is the collecting of evidence.

If your house is burglarized, should the victim have to pay for the collection of fingerprints during the investigation? I think not.

It just so happens that the collection of evidence from a rape victim is not from the house but from inside of a body.

if the police accuse them then it is on them

if a person goes to the police and accuse someone of something they did not do and it is proven they did not do it then the accuser should pay and be punished

That makes sense that the guilty party pay for the investigations. Very unlikely that will ever happen, but it makes sense.

It also makes sense that if someone falsely accuses someone, they should reimburse the costs.

But...a rape victim has it rough to be put through sooo many traumas - rape, physical and otherwise investigation, and court. And top it off with billing them for the procedures is just wrong IMO.
