Topic: Is This Possible?

My name is Will and I am a Christian. But before you bang the gavel in judgment, allow me to present my case to the non-believers, the humanists, satanists, and atheists, who believe us to be sick fanatics. I just want to ask if it is possible to like and respect someone who is a Christian? The truth is that no one does, but I want to start to change that. I promise I will not preach or try to convert - just give me a few moments.

I want to say right off the bat that I hate, detest, and abhor all forms of organized religion, especially the Christian religion. Religion has killed more people, caused more wars, and has caused more racism, separatism, and prejudice than all 'sinners' combined. I do not go to church, nor do I fellowship with religious people because they are hypocrites. People like to perform rituals and make traditions because it leaves a record of goodness in their eyes and eases their guilt from whatever bad deeds they do. But religion is empty and hollow because there isn't any spirituality behind it.

Every person on the planet looks up to someone or something because we don't believe we individually have all the answers. We are assaulted with 'facts' from books, the internet, tv, radio, even our peers, daily. But at the end of the day, we still make a decision as to whether or not we will believe and accept those facts presented to us. This applies to atheists, humanists, muslims, jews, whatever. We believe in either a person or principle we see as greater than us and attempt to adhere to their principles, beliefs, and values. This is what I do with Christianity. I do not read the Bible in order to build up my intellectual prowess and stockpile my arsenal of religious dogma. Rather, I focus on the nature and personality of God/Jesus and try to adopt that lifestyle as my own. I believe in application, not theory. This allows me to have compassion, empathy, grace, humility when I interact with the rest of the world. I honestly don't care what you believe/don't believe in, as long as it has you improving the quality of your life, great.

I will never try to convert someone, because Jesus didn't do it. I will simply let my lifestyle talk for me. The key is that this is my personal foundation for coping with life. For you it may be astrophysics or Satanism. Doesn't matter as long as you seek to uplift humanity as a whole.

Ok guys....sorry so long, but I would really appreciate any comments, feedback, opinions, so that I can really get an idea of life and people living life. Thanks.

I personally have no problem at all with Christians like yourself. I used to be a Christian like yourself at one time. I was truly a non-judgmental Christian. I didn't pass any judgements of any kind on non-Christians, nor did I denounce their belief systems.

If all Christians were like you there's a good chance that no one would have a problem with the religion.

The Christians that cause all the problems are the proselytizers who are trying to prove that they are right and everyone else is wrong.

It's the proselytizing Christians who are your true nemesis. No one else. flowerforyou

Yes well no one can relate to God's word without the experience...the life of His word living in us.

Without that there is no understanding of God & who He is & where we fit into the His plan etc etc.

Don't let these boards get to you. I don't think much can be done on a BBS, so it turns into conversation of all sorts. You just have to pick & choose who you want to talk with & what you will respond to.

Enjoy! and God bless...

I have absolutely no problem with Christians, Atheists, Agnostics, Satanists, Wiccans, Muslims, the list goes on. What does annoy me is the espousing of hatred and intolerance. The premise that someone is going to hell or a sinner merely because they choose not to follow one faith or another. This in my mind is even more frightening than the proselytizing. As irritating as that can become at times, you always have the ability to say "no thank you" and walk away.

It seems to me that far less people would be going to hell if spirituality really meant something and was not a label you could slap on someone.

well said Wilfendrinker

you can't force someone to believe in God through scare tactics and such,

Love can not be forced.

Some of Christianities worst enemies can also be found in some churches as well.

Satan knows scripture better than any of us and can quote it quite well with a little twist at the end.

Brow beating a non believer will never work, live your life as good as you can. Help people when you can. Some christians have a way of driving non believers away with the tactics they use.

Treat people as you would like to be treated.

from a Christian, believer and yes a sinner

I have no problem being friends with anybody with any kinds of religious or spiritual beliefs. Friendship is based on mutual respect and as long as that exists the rest is all superficial.

I can get offended when a devout follower of any religion harps on about their religion being the only way, because what they are often saying is that my way is the wrong way. I am an agnostic, bordering on an athiest, i dont really know what i believe yet. Religious people talk about having faith, but i also have faith as strong as theirs, just my faith is in organised religions all being wrong. i know they are, without a doubt. But i normally keep that to myself, for it serves no purpose to tell that to a religious person with a different belief. It serves as little purpose in them telling me that their way is right.

Hi Will, personally i hate everyone on this site including the moderator's.

My only purpose for being here is to annoy and offend, and cause as much trouble as i can.

I think that anyone who does not believe exactly like i believe should be shot.

and as far as gods, religions, and beliefs go - well - i've found that if you blend them all together in a really large bowl, pre-heat the oven to 375 and bake it for 4 hrs. you'll find that all the truths sink to the bottom and usually get washed away as crumbs when you wash the pan out afterwards. Meanwhile we are stuck being spoon fed that which is leftover by a myriad of people trying to convince us of what it is they are feeding us. Soooo, you either like the taste or you refuse to eat it, either way there is plenty more to feast upon, you won't starve to death, nor will you get sick of eating the same old thing.flowerforyou

Telling people you are right and they are wrong serves no purpose other than to antagonize.

This is how I feel
This is what I believe
This is how I see it
Consider this

are way better than I am right, you are wrong and if you don't believe me you are going to Hell

Yeah the name calling is a bit over the top. My feeling on that is I would never type anything that I would not be able to say right to the person's face if they were standing in front of me. That keeps it in check.

Its not as if you are going to piss someone off to the point that they climb through the monitor and kick your ass so...happy happy
