anyone know anything about it,like can it be removed, how hard is it to get rid of...etc?

i ask this because my mom went to the dr today and they're wanting to send her for a Colonoscopy(sp?) because they think she might have Colon Cancer.

i joke around alot on here but honestly,if anything happened to my mom right now,i don't know what i would do.she has kept me out of so much trouble and i owe her my life for everything she has done for me

a colonoscopy is the way they diagnose it- if they see something they will take a biopsy and tell her definitely - it is good that she is having this done - it is treatable when caught early

all good thoughts and prayers for your Mom!!!

It all varies on what stage she's in - IF she has it. Some can be cut out, but you need your colon so unless it's really bad I don't think they'd remove it (effects are not pleasant) - she'd have chemo, maybe radiation. My grandmother passed from this but that was many many years ago and modern medicine is amazing these days. Best wishes for your mom and family flowerforyou

Hope every thing goes well and they can catch it soon enough.

I watched my best friends father die from it 2 years ago. He hung in there for almost 10 years befor it took him.

Prayers and thoughts are with you.

Audie - you are totally wrong on this one.
If caught early, colon cancer is curable. In the old days it was a death sentence. But now, a lot of the time they can remove the tumors by doing a colonoscopy and using snare forceps or hot biopsies. They will want to do close follow-ups, sometimes colonoscopies every year or 2 to 3 years to watch for more growth. Some growths are precancerous and these they watch with regular colonoscopies. If it has advanced, they can remove parts of the colon many times, sometimes the person ends up with a colostomy bag, but that is better than dying from it. Chemo and radiation are used to treat it. If it is an aggressive form, then the outcome is not so good, but they are able to treat it more times that not now versus years ago.

Good luck with your mom, I will keep you both in my prayers and thoughts. flowers flowers

Colonscopies aren't that bad, heck where else can you see your colon on TV??? rofl rofl

Thats not true, certainly if it is caught in the earlier stages. That was a pretty unsympathetic thing to say.

my father had colon cancer and he waited to long so it spread to other organs and he dies but if she does have it and its caught early enough then her prognosis is god. i have known other who have had it and had surgery, chemo and radiation and have been cancer free for 7 years now so never give up hope. ill put in a prayer request at my church for your mother and may god be with you both. just be there for her for she will need you and it helps to be in good spirits than not. let us know hoe it comes out our prayers are with you both
