I saw the video this morning as well, sickening. Sad as this may be, the most I would have done was call the police and/or security on the train (which I definitely would have done). But get involved physically, with someone so obviously insane and out of control, no. Sorry, maybe that makes me a terrible person but I wouldn't have.

at least you would have done something, no one on the train did anything until a lady that didnt even witness the attack saw what was going on called someone.

I don't watch the news it depresses me, but one night it was on and my daughter was up playing and around here there was a young girl that went missing she was pregnant and her boyfriend (a cop) who lead many searches for her was the one who did it, he killed her infront of his other son who was around 1 and a half or so. They found the body not a mile from where I live.

Anyway the mother of the girl was on and she was crying and telling the story of how she was now raising the son. I couldn't hold it in and cried. My daughter asked why I was crying. I had to explain to her that the lady on TV was a mommy and she missed her baby, and if anything ever happened to her I would miss her the same way.

all I can think about in the story that you told was that little boy and what a screwed up life he is gonna lead... People wonder why I'm such a b*tch....I HATE PEOPLE... for the most part at least.

I dont hate people Lily, it is just the ones that dont care about others and do stupid a$$ crap like this and the one that you are talking about in front of their kids. Goes to show you just how much they care about their kids. I remember seeing that story that you are talking about on the news, and I did the same thing cry, but then I wanted to do what he did to his girlfriend to him, just not in front of his son!

Let me explain, explode I was just watching the Today program and they were showing a clip of a young man being beat by another guy with a hammer and NOONE did anything to stop it! He was asleep in the subway and not bothering anyone, the guy that started beating him had his 6 YR OLD SON with him.mad What kind of example is he showing his son?grumble Thank God he only suffered minor injuries, but he could have been killed. The young man that was being attacked dropped his cell phone and another guy that was watching this happen stole the phone. This happened in Philly and I am sure that it happens other places also. I just dont understand why NOONE tried to help this young man that did nothing to deserve this attack. Like the police commissiner said we are in a SAD state of affairs when NOONE will help some that is being attacked.tears All I can say is that I would have done something to help, even if it was just to call the police, alert the operator of the train or distract the guy that was beating the other one, something is all I could have done, with the hope that someone will help me if that was happening to me.tears tears

Happens the same out here in Chicagoland, they just let a guy off for charges of first degree murder on two counts because the witness's recanted their testimonies...he was going to be convicted of killing an off-duty cop and his female friend, same applies down the road from where I work where a young female was struck and killed in an apparent hit and run case. Humanity is becoming more cruel as the days wear on it seems.

It's been this way for a few years now. You see it on the news so much of all the BS in this world that people have got to the point that they don't care. think about it. When you hear someone getting shot. It really is no surprise and you flip the chanel. I blame the news for the way alot of people think. They glorified all the BS and people feed off of it and think this is how the world is...

This would be one of the reasons i don't even watch the news anymore...it's the same every night, and it's become "normal"...i dont get how they can be reporting the same things almost every night, make a face like "i cant believe this happened" and move on to the next thing...night after night...

...it gets tiring

Its getting to the point with me that I'm not sure I want to experience what my mom calls her greatest joy, grandkids. Not if this is what they have to look forward to.

completely understandable...kinda sad though...

...nothings gonna stop me from raising my kids, and maybe one of these days having grandkids...it's all what you make out of it...things happen, thats life (at least what its come to)...

...society shouldnt be able to control us...

I agree. I stop watching the news years ago. Just like you said. How many times can you hear the same thing over and over. it wouldn't be so bad if they stuck to what is importunate. No one care about who raped who,who killed, or who stolen a car etc etc anymore. What about the things that are happening that are good in this world. Why not focus on more of that then the BS right? but ratings is what direct what why they will go so lets put up what all the sick people in this world want to see...

Well if it keeps going in the same pattern and it becomes a more widespread issue (small towns/cities, etc.) I can imagine we will start seeing some people taking the law into their own hands...which is what they should of been doing, when the law fails it is the citizen's responsibility to shame the inadequacy of that law.

OH! things will change, but the problem with that. It will be for the worse because the way alot of people are raised up in society and taking things into our own hands will get out of control. Sucks, but it is true....

I don't speak of violent resolutions, shame does not just come from action...write blogs, write your local newspaper, write congress, write about the wrongs. If their own inadequacy becomes public it will be more in view of the citizens, and nothing hurts a police department more then a view of inadequacy from the masses. You can of course take action as well, however try to limit yourself by law of what you can/cannot do.

All I can say is thank God for Country Boys, Rednecks ect... what ever ya want to call them. For I can say no one I know my age or my kids age would stand by and let that happen.

We Texans are tough and rough and don't think twice when someone is in need. We have rope will travel miles for a friend or another in need!!bigsmile

But you know it is really sad that some would stand by and watch it happen and not at least pull the cord for the brakes or something. I do know that my son or his friends would be the first to jump in when another is down. No matter who it was they were taught that you never sit back and let something like that happening. Its really sad that it does happen but it does and it happens all over the world. To many don't want to get involved in fear of what will happen.

What happen to the good ole days when we stood up for the fellow man?

I didnt see it but can guarantee you, it wasn't in the south. I don't think I even know anyone who would not jump right in to help someone in trouble like that. I lived in NYC and saw a lot that surprised me but when society accepts hoodlums as the new heros, thats what happens.

Here in Louisiana, someone would have pulled out thier trusty sidearm and blown the offenders head off. Myself included.

Killing is a last resort, but a WELL place'd round or 2 will make sure they stop & if they bleed out, while waiting for cops & medics.
Too bad, so sad. Trail is short & sweet, 1 person can't talk.

I'm afraid my friend, that our society has changed. For whatever reason
people rarely risk what they have for others. While not everyone is like that- the greater public couldn't care less about society as a whole. We live in an egotopia.

I hear all of the problems but no solutions. Its a give and take society driven by poor individuals choice on how to celebrate ones freedom. Driven by violence, and political correctness and unfairness in doctrine not to mention crappy schools indoctrinating our youth in "lesbian sceince" and "gimme gimme socialism poor me" instead of educating them in the tools they need for a successful future of their choice. And the instigator news media is not helping. So what do you do? The answer is educate. The answer is volunteer. The answer is become involved in any way possible in your community to love and help your community and its people. Whether it is civics, local politics, community groups, or local organizations- you must help be a solution to the problem. Or you are just part of the problem. I'm 43 years old today. I help give classes to my local girl scout troops on cooking and mechanical aptitude and physics. I work with bikers against abused children. I'm a 7 year AMA member. I'm a combat decorated vet and work with amvets. I believe in ecology and conservation and plant flowers and trees donated by the state. I stay in touch with my congressmen and legislators and keep up to date on issues that affect me. I have dinner with my chief of police. I go hunting with my sheriff. I give rehabilitation lectures on alcohol and drugs at the hospital that rehabilitated me so many years ago. I vote. Everyone knows my name. So when you worry about what you see on tv in your community- keep this in mind- I don't own a tv. I'm too busy being a productive member of my community. How about you?
