Your local homeless shelter and soup kitchen could use your time.

Your local youth group could use a mentor.

Your local battered womens shelter could use someone to answer phones.

Your local group home could use someone to volunteer some time and their vehicle to help get groceries for some patients who just want to get out awhile.

well i'm glad that you apparently have all this covered...lol...seriously just kidding

i have to give my time and support to my children...and there isn't much time left between my job and them going to school...but i look at it as giving my part...by raising my children and providing for them...

...how many children, teenagers, young adults become delinquients because their parents weren't there for them...thats part of the problem...not the cause, just part of the problem...

...all those examples you listed are good ones...

...i am starting with my children, my responsibilty...

Let me explain, explode I was just watching the Today program and they were showing a clip of a young man being beat by another guy with a hammer and NOONE did anything to stop it! He was asleep in the subway and not bothering anyone, the guy that started beating him had his 6 YR OLD SON with him.mad What kind of example is he showing his son?grumble Thank God he only suffered minor injuries, but he could have been killed. The young man that was being attacked dropped his cell phone and another guy that was watching this happen stole the phone. This happened in Philly and I am sure that it happens other places also. I just dont understand why NOONE tried to help this young man that did nothing to deserve this attack. Like the police commissiner said we are in a SAD state of affairs when NOONE will help some that is being attacked.tears All I can say is that I would have done something to help, even if it was just to call the police, alert the operator of the train or distract the guy that was beating the other one, something is all I could have done, with the hope that someone will help me if that was happening to me.tears tears

OK SO HOW IN THE PUCK CAN SOMEONE JUST WATCH SOMETHING LIKE THAT!!
PPL Pssss ME OFF ALOT NOW A DAYS!!!

Glad I killed this thread. Once again actions speak louder than words.

I have given my time in the past to different children groups and will continue to do so. But one thing that all of us fail to realize is that everything starts at home. I use to drive a school bus for a living so I saw first hand how alot of parents could care less about what they teach their children. Drugss, drinks, beating up their spouse, murder, just violance in general. When are the parents and families going to start caring again??? Where are the values that most of us were raised with?? I can honestly say that I do my part and will continue to do my part. So dont get on your band wagon until you know all of the fact. I am sure that most of us on here have done and will continue to do what we can to better the lives of the kids around us.

mad I saw the same story this morning. It's disgusting how people can sit back and do nothing to help.
A few minutes after that story aired they showed another one where someone pulling away from a gast pump hit a person who was riding their bike. They dragged them for over 40 feet before stopping. They did find who did it though and turns out to be an illegal citizen who was driving without a license. Sad. It really is. That people can think a human life is that expendable.

As to the other man on the subway... He was later caught. Turns out he has a history of violent crimes. My question is simply why does he keep getting put back on the streets? mad
