I was working with FEMA through, Charley, and Hugo.
The effects were very bad in florida. Katrina, I only seen the aftermath of its terror. And now with this one. It looks like the government and the states are trying to be very careful to warn early and to get everyone out before it hits. If it does build as it crosses the gulf it could be even worse than Katrina was? And that would destroy all the rebuilding and the hearts of many who lived through Katrina. Thank you for posting this so as everyone can see, be aware, and to maybe find some nice folks here who might have room to share for the ones needing to find shelter. As "ALL" the motel's and Hotel's with-in 500 miles out are BOOKED. |

Sigh, there was already a storm worse than Katrina. Its name was Rita and hit a month later. Hit my town and it was pretty bad. I have a lot of family and friends that are evacuating. Got to hope they have a place to return to when its all said and done.

I'd like to thank Ray Nagin for his swift work and dedication to his city in getting everyone prepared in NOLA. Nagin was criticized for his handling of Katrina, and rightly so, and this time around it seems everyone's learned a lesson. |

My best to you and your family and friends there! |

Ahhh.... the price we pay to live in a somewhat tropical environment. Charlie and Jeanne did a number where I live although I personally got no damage. Then along came TS Fay and I lost a tree. Funny how that works. I got lucky and it fell onto another tree instead of the house. I feel for anyone in Gustav's path and urge you to seek shelter elsewhere. Good luck and God bless!
