Oh Mag - sorry latest news report, state Gustav may reach hurricane cat 3 status and is (as of right now) expected to hit LA and TX.

I hope it veers off or even better yet disappears altogether

Part of living near the coast.ohwell Batten down the hatches & pack the car just in case. I was raised on the Delmarva Pennisula, I know the routine well. Good luck.

There's a price to pay for that warm weather where people choose to live. On the southern coastline, hurricanes are not an "if" but a "when". It would be like me to be complaining about a blizzard here.

Having survived both, I think Wisconsin winters are worse than an occassional hurricane.

Good luck. whoa

I always wonder why everyone who lives in a hurricane area doesn't just move...until the earth starts shaking out here and I realize that we all have to deal with SOMETHING.

move where, to where there are blizzards, earth quakes, tornadoes.. all are natural disasters and we are all susceptible to Mother Nature's Wrath.

With a hurricane you have plenty of warning nowadays.(Delmarveese term) Anyone raised in hurricane country stays prepared, the most important thing is to be willing to leave before it's too late, waiting until everyone is panicing will get you stuck on the road.

OP wondered if his place would be hit again as he has not recovered from prior hurricane.

Warnings are helpful but keep in mind all are predictions. Not that it matters, I listen to warnings, have my home prepared and stocked, in case I have to evacuate have an evacuation route. Just feel for those that lose property and life.

Tropical storm Fay was not predicted to make landfall 4 times (for example)

People just stay prepared and aware flowerforyou

This is SOOOOO true.....that's why I just stay here where it's warm and beaches to go to......and live in the country....no hustle and bustle every day of commuting to work......

But yes.....the house is gutted from the last storm and live in a camper.....(one I had to BUY)....at least this time I can hook up and hual bootie real quick
