Hi everyone.

This is the religion forum Coffeeshop Chat Room.

It is hoped that this can be a place for chat and sharing, without debates, or disagreements.

Thank you.

Me also.

I like to share poetry, so I will start with this one.

From the inspired poem ' If ' - by Rudyard Kipling

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too:
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream and not make dreams your master;
If you can think and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same:
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build'em up with worn-out tools

I do not know who the author was, but I enjoyed reading it.

Very cool poem Britt...

It's very true... God says to put Him first & His righteousness & all THESE things will be added unto you.

I think most people have it backwards...they let the cares of this life & the lust of the eye lead them instead of THEM taking the lead.

I remember when I quit smoking...it was so empowering & that was something I never expected to feel because I "thought" I could never overcome smoking. WOW! The added extra was a really nice surprize.

It should make people wonder what they are slaves to.

Well Writer Girl, whatever you wish to on a religious based topic, or philosphy.

It is a place for people to share their particular faith and get to know one another, rather than debate.

I may well share Christian articles, inspirational poems, and prayers.

People do like to share prayer requests, and praise reports from time to time.

I am curious from your headline - do you like writing?, stories, poetry?

I would love to know about that if you wish to share.

I think we all can be slaves to something if we are not careful to discern that.

Nice to see you Britty!

great to see you Bobby,

Hello all, I wanted to mention I've almost been 2 days porn and sex free now basically. Been staying out of the sexual topics here and porn sites too. So it's a beginning.

Well, I am glad to hear that Kleisto. I am sure young men are faced with many such challenges in the world today (probably always were).

Keep doing what you are doing to stay away from it and keep your mind healthy.

I know some think it does no harm if it is within the confines of the home, but I think it does - the children are exposed to it. I don't really think any of it can be harmless.

I know it does, been a 10 year thing for me, and only increased in intensity over time and in how it's manifested itself. Going from one aspect to another, except physically somehow. That's the only line I haven't crossed yet.

well Ruth, pull up a chair.

I peeked at your profile - I dont know why I had not seen you in the threads before.

I like the pic, although I like purple.

You have a lovely smile.

I guess I shall introduce myself, I am a Christian but consider myself a believer
rather than belonging to a particular denomination. I have been on here since the end
of last year, and I think this is a nice way to get to meet people from all over.

I am originally from the UK, but made this my home after my husband passed.

Hope you will feel comfortable stopping in any time.

I will pop in again later.

Yes it is, although I still have a fondness
for New Hampshire - I love the mountains and
the folks I met up there so friendly - and a
really nice church where folks were genuine and
loving.

However, I have become fond of being near water
too. I am blessed every day, to be here.

Really, I have not seen all the states yet, that would be nice, to me they all have a beauty and uniqueness about them. I wish everyone who lived here could actually see all that beauty.

If you had your pick, what state would you choose to live in?

I use to travel alot for work and I've been to every state except Alaska,Hawaii, and Montana. I still call Massachusetts home.

Well, arent you the lucky one?
Seriously, depending on the work, it does not
always allow time for sightseeing and it can
be tiresome.

Of the three that are left in your list, I would
choose Hawaii because I would like to see a
volcano, which is funny, I am afraid of heights.

Yes, it is kind of funny, and yet comforting
at the same time how one particular place
just kind of grows on you.

Did you grow up in Massachusetts?
