Firefly was a Sci-fi series on fox, where the ships (and communication) were fast, but not faster than light. there were three main regions, the inner planets (think Star Trek) The Frontier( Wild West with Space ships) and the border areas that was a mix of both.
Does anyone remember it, What did you like about it. |

Very cool show on Scifi...was made into a movie. The old west meet outerspace

I saw it once. I liked it. But every time it was on I was doing something else and missed it

It was a pretty cool show, but at the time, Joss Whedon (the show's creator) was busy having all of his other shows canceled,so I guess they just figured "why not?" It seems that most good shows get canned after only a few episodes lately.

isnt that the show that serenity is based off of? yup after the show was canceled there was a ton of outcry about it so they made the flick. I enjoyed both the series and the show. The capt was also in a movie called slither which has the same feel........sorta |

I missed it on Fox, but a friend recommended it, and I found it cheap on Amazon.
The series is only 13 episodes (including 2 that never aired). They're also in the proper order, instead of how Fox aired them. Serenity was the movie that came after. |

Space cowboys and a cute Canadian? I was all over that. Got the box set and everything. LOVED IT!
The movie Serenity kinda finished off where they had cancelled the series. Damn shame to have cancelled it really. |

My favorite parts of the show were:
that while they traveled from planet to planet, it wasn't faster than light. Kaylee (the Mechanic) Cute, competent, and funny. Wash (the pilot) If I were in space, this is what I would be doing, although I would have stuffed Pokemon, not dinosaurs. They didn't always win, but the did keep flying (until the network pulled the plug, that is). |

Firefly was a fantastic series! The only sci-fi program (to my knowledge) that had the balls to show that there's no sound in space (for some reason that always stuck with me).
Why the hell did it get cancelled??

Why the hell did it get cancelled?? Fox played the episodes out of order. Fox didn't "get" it. They are in the future and space, why were the planets so low tech (cowboys and horses, etc). (HINT HINT: Fox execs, watch the show and it is explained completely.) Fox moved the show from one time slot to another, so it was hard to catch it every week. Fox put Firefly up against well established shows instead of into wide open time slots so it could develop a following. |

Fox played the episodes out of order. Fox didn't "get" it. They are in the future and space, why were the planets so low tech (cowboys and horses, etc). (HINT HINT: Fox execs, watch the show and it is explained completely.) Fox moved the show from one time slot to another, so it was hard to catch it every week. Fox put Firefly up against well established shows instead of into wide open time slots so it could develop a following. Fox need their collective heads examining. The whole storyline about River just got going and they END it??!! Fools
