No, people that dont like stock car don't necessarily think its not a sport because they don't like it. Some dont think its a sport because of the lack of athleticism that is required. Lack of athleticism?? 150+ degrees inside the car....190+ MPH....3+ g's in some of the turns....do that for four hours or 500 miles, whichever comes first....Oh yeah...forgot to mention wrestling around a 3500 pound car that doesn't have a whole lot of grip. Trust me....they are athletes. |

Most of us have experience 3+ Gs if we like to ride roller coasters. Sure it may takes it toll on the body since everything we do does, but you wont convince me that it takes more athleticism to drive a car than it does to do gymnastics.

sport –noun
1. an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature, as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc. Personally i cant stand racing, i would rather sit and watch paint dry but, it still is a sport. To say that gymnastics isnt a sport, to put it in a nice way thats just silly. Most people cant even stand on a beam 4 inches wide for that long let alone doing backflips with all sorts of difficult twists and turns, which sounds bad enough but they have to try and do all of this...without messing anything up. I suggest you do a little reading up on the sport, its one of only a few that i think most athletes can respect because of the dedication and the fact that everything has to be perfect. |
