Do you allow your looks to affect your self-esteem? Why do you suppose that is?

Ummm.....hmmmm.....
I know that most ladies are looking for a dude with good self esteem..... I plead the 5th? LOL |
|

most likely because it is usually the first thing we are judged upon

I think I have a pretty high self esteem. But there has been times where I wasn't happy with the way I looked and it did affect it. Everyone has their moments.

yes, and yes because, if they are not blind, i better have something to say to keep them interested, or get them drunk

I'll put it this way....
About ten years ago, I weighed nearly 300 pounds. I now weigh in at a steady 200. There are still times when I feel like I could lose some more weight....but then I think about where I used to be. I also think about the fact that I eat pretty much whatever the hell I want now, and my weight doesn't fluctuate by more than a couple of pounds. I am happy as hell to have lost nearly 100 pounds. If someone wants to dismiss me because I am still kinda chubby....well...that's their problem. They have no idea what they would be missing out on. :-) |

Personality and the gift of gab are great backups! |

stopped carin about how ppl looked at me long ago. if someone has a prob w/ the way i look, fvck em, they won't find out what a good friend i can be and if they're that shallow, i don't want em as a friend...
when it comes to the professional world, i clean up nice |

I feel good about myself because I feel good about myself.
Yeah...I could be better, but I'm doing better with what I've got, now, than I used to do. |

i really don't care how people looks at me--i can be a spook or i can be a'right--appearances are what you are--you can wear what's comfy or you can dress up like you're bound for the church--me--i wear what's comfy--i keep my hair long as it is--

i think most people do even if they choose to deny it. we are all self conscience about something....
society sets the standard for what is acceptable as sexy or attractive. most people, if they do not live up to that, often have self esteem issues. ive no phd in the matter...jmo |

I think I've gotten better as I've grown older. I'm more comfortable with myself now than when I was young. Perhaps self esteem affects image?

These days I just look in the mirror and say, "Wow, I need to lose some weight... but hey, at least I'm not as fat as most of America! Time for more yoga."
... and for a few weeks, I'll do more yoga and eat less junk... and then I go back to what I was doing before. I just haven't met the right guy yet to help give me more incentive. I stay in great shape when I'm dating someone exclusively and let myself go when I'm not. I'm kinda funny that way. Back to the subject at hand though, I couldn't care less what people think of me now... just what I think. I still look good. |
