No one with cat allergies would be around me long enough for me to fall in love. I have 3 cats. I probably would not spend much time with someone who was allergic or didn't like them. That being said, as much as I love my pets, people come 1st. We'd have to make do until I could find the best possable homes for the kitties. sad

Wow I commend for that because when it comes down to it if a pet was that fulfilling you wouldnt be looking for a human being to share your life with............

I do truly love my pets, I used to work for the humane society it's hard to find someone who is more of an animal lover than I. As much as we like treat them like people, they are not. I was shocked when someone posted a thread about saving pets or people in a fire & the overwhelming majority said they would save thier pets 1st!

because ppl, well most ppl anyway, can take care of themselves. open doors windows ect. ur pet can't, they don't have thumbs. i'm w/ the majority, my boy comes first

Uh animals have been around since the beginning of time...........we may have domesticated them but they will survive without you when they have to its called animal instinct they dont loose that........and not all ppl can take care of themselves there are kids who cant and I would rather help them in a heart beat than an animal...........

I seriouslt doubt my spoiled little dog & my Fatcat could take care of themselves, but that isn't the issue. The issue is the value of human life.

Ditto thats right and that is what im having the problem with when a person can be so clear cut to what value they put of a human being compared to an animal................

Do you have animals?

I have had several throughout my life but I dont give them value over any human being..................that would never happen........and actually my daughter had a cat and we found out she was allergic........and she loved the poor thing but I didnt pic the animal over my kid................the cat had to go................

Well I doubt anybody would choose their pet over their child...geeze... noway

This concept should apply to any human species................wow am i in the twilight zone..............no candid camera......

Original question: Who goes....Mate or pet?

"Goes" as in leave the house. Not putting anyone to sleep...mates or pets! No burning houses.

Well I like my pets more than most people, but I do feel a certain obligation to my own species.

When people start dating one of the earliest conversations is about the pets we have or don't have....If I have a pet dog or cat and the woman tells me she is allergic to animals, then that would be my last date with that person....so really, i would never have even gotten close to feeling a strong enough attraction to be committed.....And I think the decision to part would be mutual....someone who is allergic to an animal is not looking for a mate with that type of pet....

Woot! Woot!...or Bark! Meow! 2600 posts....hope i don't get allergic to my keyboard

And if that isn't brought up long before you get committed into a relationship, you're doing something seriously wrong.

There have been instances that people acquire an allergy later in life.........i would know I am one of those.............yeah conversations dont come the first hour you meet them and what if you had a relationship online and the subject never came up and by then you had developed feelings for them..............then what do you do.........

I wouldn't get that far. I don't develop feelings for a few pictures and some words on a screen. I need a lot more substance than that. It's a good starting point, but that's about it.

And the subject more than likely would come up. I have a picture of my dog and he's mentioned in my profile. If anything if this came up after the fact it would either be by omission or because they simply didn't bother to read my profile which honestly, they probably wouldn't interest me at that point anyway.

For me having a pet is important to me. Just like having a family (my son) is important to me. Its hard for me to imagine falling in love with someone BEFORE discussing whether or not they enjoy having kids or pets in their life too.

anyone that falls for somebody online without first meeting is setting themselves up for heartbreak anyway....but I guarantee if you have a pet that you love it will come up within the first few conversations....it always does....and if it didn't, then ouch, oh well...."i've been with my pet much longer than you" and besides you gotta lick as good as my pet....or rub against my leg or jump into my lap....this could be fun....

If you are just typing things and you only have that then you do get the real person.................there are no distractions in looks or anything around..............if you are emailing someone then your inhibitions are down and so are theres so you do get to see the real person...................and by the way you are looking for substance in this site.............please get off that high horse everyone in this site is on................i either see people who just want to conform to someones postings or they are so wacko you dont want your enemy to meet them............this higher than though mentality is want aint getting you laid or in a relationship thats for sure..........i can say this because I know what it takes to be one............so i have some expertise in that field.................there are really some lonely people in this site for real..............smokin
