i know i assume things about people very often, even though it's wrong to do. do you assume anything about anyone based on things like their looks, race, and religion? what do you assume?

I used to "judge" people all the time, until someone pegged me for a person that I wasn't. From that point on, I no longer stereo type.

we all do. it's human nature and impossible to avoid. We all have cognitive shortcuts because it would be impossible for us to process all of the information that is around us at all times. If we took the time to process every bit of information available to us, we'd never be able to function. Stereotyping and prejudging can be very harmful, but are not possible to avoid unfortunately. Its more about the type of filters we see the world through than the presence of them.

My brother in law had to attend a seminar about appropriate behavior in the work place at his new job, (everyone did), and the speaker made a very good point.
The way the human brain works is to categorize all incoming information so that we can better process and understand the world around us. That makes EVERYONE a racist, EVERYONE a sexist, and EVERYONE an ageist. We automatically classify the people we meet by the apparent information about them. Nobody should feel bad for that. The only thing people should feel bad about is believing, acting on, and perpetrating the stereotypes we've grown up with in an imperfect society.

exactly, and that's why i'm asking if anyone realize they do judge people and admit what type of people they judge and what they judge them about

never assume anything
because 9 times out of 10 the assumption will be wrong

if you want to know something about someone
IMO, it's best to just ask them

may not be what you want to hear, but it usually works

i'm not asking for opinions, i'm only asking if you feel you judge people, and if you think you do, who do you judge and how to do you judge them

i'm not asking for peoples opinions

I don't judge people; I judge what they are doing and if I want to be around that person.....Remember "Judge Not, yest ye be judged".

I grew up with parents that did JUDGE everyone and so I have come a long ways from their views. And it is hard not to judge someone that is different than you are.
