Topic: Can someone explain? | |
---|---|
I spent many years trying to fathom what the Bible says is
incomprehensible - the being God. As I got older it became somewhat easier as scientifically I could understand what God was NOT. So God can is without shape and form, without mass, without the burden of having to survive in the three dimentional world. Then may I ask - How can God possibly be capable of any Human emotional traits? hate, love, passion, lust, desire, disgust, anger - etc. I guess part two to this quesiton is - what about fear? |
you must ask the experts. go to the pope.

That is a great question. I think at one time god felt all these
feelings and he gave them all to us. I think he still can feel through us. I hope I am at least a little close. |
god created us in his image. so in essence he should know all of those
things.. |
Classyjeff,
That is what I think, he created us and so he had to have the feelings before. |
You're missing the point. Why do "we" have these feelings?
Example: If you could not see, hear, taste, touch, smell, how could we ever be jealous, how could we ever desire, how could we love, get angry - for clearly we would have no concept or basis for these feelings. So if these attributes are "strictly" human BECAUSE we have human senses that feed on the three dimentional world, how could a being that never existed in this form have them? Be careful lest you cross the forbidden line of "evolution" unless a god can evolve? |
Well, to be honest only you can answer that question for yourself. If
you think "God" has those feelings then that's what you think. Personally I think everybody has their own perspective about a master creator. Basically, picking a religion is like picking your favorite color. For some people their favorite color is basic (blue, yellow, red, green, ect.), some like dark, some only like a hint of color, some mix, and others don't have one at all. No matter what your religion is though just remember to respect other people and their thoughts, feelings, ect. So, it's really up to what you think is right in your world and never push a religion, only suggest what your thoughts are. |

Very well said BryanZieroff! We all have to pick the religion that we
are most comfortable with. I have went on a spirtual walk and now I am looking at what direction I feel god would want me to do. I know I will find the answers, maybe tomrrow or maybe 5 years from now it just depends on me and god. |
Bryan, what does that have to do with the subject? I'm just trying to
understand what everyone who believes in God already seems to know. Obviously it has been illusive to me and all I'm looking for is some answer that makes sense. |

I am not sure that any reply given by anyone will answer your question.
I know that I am not the one to even attempt it. The best of luck to you in finding the knowledge you seek. Cudos to Bryan for a well written response. |

originally we did not have those traits. when in the garden of eden and
eve and adam ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. they then became aware of many things as they covered up relizing they were naked. the messiah refers back to this when he spoke of in the beginning it was not so. then he spoke of being born again not of the seed of adam but of the most high. cleansing us from theses traits and fears and as a little child believing that all things are possible that our father in heaven would give it to us.this would be the holy spirit in us. what we see though is very few who have the spirit and are born again. but are led by false shepards who care more about thier pocket book than they do the word of Yahweh. preachers preach very little they have alot of catch phrases. but any one reading this look at you newspapers and see what is going to be preached on and how long. peter called this itchy ears. saying what the people want to please them. what did moses do when he came down with the 10 commandments and found that his brother Arron had allowed the same thing. think about what the bible says and what the churches are saying and they in no way agree. this is why u have problems understanding. the human traits come from the father of lies who creeps in and talks to u double talk as he did eve taking your blessings from u. |

>>> I could understand what God was NOT...How can God possibly be capable of any Human emotional traits?
I see no reason to believe God would have any of those emotions - but I do see reason for humans to relate to God as if God had those emotions. Hell, sometimes I catch myself relating to inanimate objects as if they had emotions (and deliberate, devious plans to conspire against me... ;) ) |
If anyone could explain GOD as something other than a HUMAN MADE
CONCEPT, there would have been no need to MAKE HIM UP in the first place!!! |
if you read the bible it is written that he is capable of emotions. He
is capable of even jalousie |
Emotions are human traits that we use to cope with the fact that we are
"seperated" from Oneness (call it 'God'). God has no needs for 'emotions', 'memories', and so on. All our 'bad' actions stem from fear. That fear is natural, its by design (part of our being seperate from God). Some of us can rise above it, but most of us struggle to stay afloat of our fears which will lead us into trouble. We can make the world a hugely better place simply by engaging the fears of someone else. If we can reach out and soothe a fear, you have made the world a better place. You're making real the declartion that 'the kingdom of heaven is at hand' |

Sorry it's so late, I just logged in. THANK-YOU EVERYONE for
participating in my discussion. I think you are all brave to have even commented at all. Just to examine this topic can un-nerve many poeple. Massagetrade said "I see no reason for God to have any emotions, but I do see reason for humans to relate to God as if he had those emotions." Yes exactly, that's is what I have believed for many years. This is one of the things that led me into another hobby, the psychology of the human mind. I was not trying to manipiulate that answer, Massage, but I was wondering if anyone else might see it that way. The I read what Mike had to say and I saw another perspective. He points out that we were burdened with these emotions by disobeying God's command and that we may be able to rise above these by engaging & soothing others fears, thereby making the kingdom of God close at hand. Very interesting and thinking about it I can agree, however, only if I add to it by saying that we need to rise above all our own emotions and do something because it's right, not because some emotion tells us to. This then puts us on a logical plane not an emotional one. But still there is the dilema of love. It is still an emotion and in most of the world it is one we hope to achieve on a very intimate one on one level. But I can not see that there can be love without all the other emotions and again as in a catch 22 I'm led back to "how can this Christian God have emotions and still be God" Then I'm led back to Massagetrade "I do see reason for humans to relate to God as if he had those emotions." So have we actually given emotion where none really existis? If love can really exist without any other emotion, and if God experiences only love, then the Bible has been misinterpreted, for God has no wrath, no hate, no jealousy and would NOT punish us, for faults caused the the natural world we inhabit. Again Mike is right, only man does evil to man and they do it in the name of the Bible and call it righteous because God himself has and would cause us harm, and that upholds the reasoning for God to have emotions, as a manipulative tool for those men who would lead us to evil. THANKS ALL - PLEASE COMMENT ANYTIME, LOVE READING ALL OPINIONS. |

God has emotions, the bible tells us this over and over. Also it speaks
of the angels weeping. I don't think you should question these things as eventually all will be answered. I doubt God has ever felt fear for what is there for him to fear? He has had anger, and speaks of jealousy over mankind worshipping idols, and these are also feelings. The answers are in the bible just read it. |

Bryan? a well written response? Um no picking a religion is not really
like picking a fav color unless there a re a hell of alot of shades of one color because several religions know the same God, even christian and the islam religion has the same God. as far as protestant, baptist, pentecostal, latter day saints are not different religions, but different denominations. |

oh sorry but I have been dealing with fighting kids forgot to also note
that "Who says feelings are a human/flesh trait?" I think feelings come from the spirit. |

Hi fedman, let me ask you a question, A trusted friend gives you an
open deck of playing cards and says they're all here. He cuts the deck into two piles. Now you count one pile, let's say it has 25 cards in it. A full deck hold 52 cards. You can count that stack a million times and in your mind will you always believe that the other stack holds 27 cards????? So do you believe the person who gave you the deck when they said this it was a full deck? You will never know unless you count the other stack. My point, if it were as cut and dry as "just read the bible", how could there possibly be room for different interpretations? Obviously we were not given a full deck of cards. Yet it is counted and counted over and over. Heck we barely read a school textbook more than once and are expected to take tests and remember it all. Why should the "truths" of the Bible be so difficult to interpret, to understand? How could the very same words that poeple read over and over, cause wars, cause hate, cause evil. Is it not even worth examining these questions, WITHOUT the very tool that has caused these problems THAT BOOK? |
