Why do people put it that way? "Better 1/2" First off we are WHOLE people (or should be) before we start a relationship. Not 'half' people who aren't complete with out someone else .. I am fully complete and capable of existing all alone. I just prefer to be in a relationship, but I don't need it to exist. And why would you look for the "BETTER half" anyway? I would want to bring it ALL to the table, be the best I could be - not waiting for someone else to. It's like when people say we should give 50-50 in a relationship. We shouldn't bring just 1/2 to a relationship. It should be 100 .. 100 which equals to twice as much in the total end result anyway! Your thoughts? *applause* (Now taking kid to Starbucks~ Never saw a 14 yr old jump outta bed THAT fast before.. ) |

imagine you'd also love my ¢harisma! I do....and those sayings you come up with on your threads.... |

I think it's more of a term of endearment. I doubt most people believe they are any more or less than their partner.

i think that the saying is really meant to mean that the two people are "one whole" and that you would be saying that the other person is "better"....not saying that you aren't complete, but that the other person completes the "one whole" that the two of you represent...i don't know, just my opinion So what you're really saying is if two people make a whole... then those two people alone aren't complete. Yes? no, each person is whole in their own...for example, if you have two whole one-layer cakes then they can be whole by themselves...now, if you put the two layers together then you have a whole TWO-layer cake...a new object but still whole such is the case in a relationship in that each is "whole" but they can make a new "object" which is also whole i definitely agree with tngxl65...it is something that is said to build up their partner |

Yes? lol... this has already gotten complicated, but even taking the phrase literally, you have to think of each unit of measure separately. Two cups makes a whole pint. 2 pints makes a whole quart. 4 quarts makes a whole gallon. It's not that you're any less as a cup, but two of you together make a whole pint. And let me tell you..... a pint is a really good thing ;) Oh and 3 and 1/2 gallons makes a barrel. And 2 barrels makes a hogshead. I surely don't know why. |

My left side of my brain is my better half...always using that logic junk...while my right side trys to find creative ways to escape the police that are chasing me...stoopid left side. |

I've always taken that saying to refer to the relationship...as in the better half of our relationship.
I agree with half of 200% = 100% |

I refuse to call someone my "better half"...lol. I'm a whole person as is, and I don't want to get into a relationship with a half of a person. You gotta come to me already complete, cus I can't do that for ya.
