Topic: Is it Rude | |

if someone wants to send out mass e-mails to women whose profiles he clearly has not read, I fail to see how my refusal to participate in his scattershot game makes me rude. He is the rude one.

Yes it's rude unless it is obviously nasty, then they get blocked.

I feel if I took time to email you, you can be courteous and reply.........however you feel i.e. : GO AWAY!! GET LOST!!! NOT INTERESTED!!! Would love to chat but busy right now... I will get back to you, but thanks for writing me a note.
Only takes a minute.......... |

Question.. If you block someone from sending you email, can you still see them in the forums?
Okay.. I do not think it's rude not to answer. I think it's rude to message them back stating you're not interested. They will get the point if you do not reply. Or atleast some do. I have had to block a couple of stalkers on here. |

But there are some who don't get the hint, and unless you are going to block everyone who emails you and you don't want to respond to, the list can get quite long......Maybe I should have just typed.....NOT INTERESTED, THANKS........I didn't mean literally tell them get lost. |

"Thanks for e mailing me. I looked at your profile & I don't think I am a good match for you.(insert reason if you want) Good luck with your search"
What's rude about that? |

not to reply to an email? Whats even more rude, is when you do reply and don't show intriest, they get all bent out of shape. If you put expectations on anything, your setting yourself up. So NP for me not to reply. |

This is a touchy subject, myself, I would say its rude in a way. So I try to respond to all emails, the problem is 99% of those who email me I am not interested in, and make that clear in the response email, but the hint is not taken. So I have to weight the option, which is more rude??

"Thanks for e mailing me. I looked at your profile & I don't think I am a good match for you.(insert reason if you want) Good luck with your search" What's rude about that? I have done this. When I first signed up for a couple of weeks. Everytime I would, they would still continue to email me. They wouldn't give up. So of course I blocked them. When I do not answer the email, then they usually leave it at that. It's my preference to just not reply because it saves a lot of frustration. |

I suppose it isn't necessarily rude to not respond to an e-mail on this site (although being here does imply that you wish to receive mail...), but at the very least it seems a bit unkind or thoughtless. That's O.K. for some, I guess. They figure they don't know the person anyway, so no problem.
But if a person puts themselves out there...takes the risk of rejection, as I, myself, have done...I don't know...I feel I should honor that gesture with a simple reply at the very least. If the person is rude or pushy, I tend to be a bit more direct. |

In general, yes, I think it is. If it's some off the wall, stupid, scammer, racist, sexist, blah blah - then my answer would be nope - not rude to ignore. i agree. |

Well I can see why they might be persistant, you are a very attractive young lady. I don't think more than 1 reply is nessasary if you already said you are not interested, but I do think replying to the 1st one is just common courtesy. |

My latest back and forth with someone by text that I met, same is true for emails...
"Is my c*ck big enough? Is my brain small enough? Pull my strings and you'll go far" my reply "Uhm, what the hell, why do you think you can talk to me like that?" his reply "they are song lyrics, aren't they funny?" me "No, and you didn't say that, I was kindof offended by that, have a nice life" his "Ok, miss stick up your azz, walk on egg shells, f**k off" THIS IS WHY I DON'T RESPOND IF I DON'T LIKE THE PERSON OR THE STATEMENTS THEY MAKE... IT'S BETTER TO JUST LET A SLEEPING DOG LYE. |

I think so, but I think that we are all guilty of not replying to a email.
