My favoriet was "I just felt too good to go to work"...there was a company in Grand Rapids that allowed that once a year for their employees.

Whats the worse excuse you've heard for taking a day off work? I worked retail for a long time and people would always claim their car broke down. One of my bosses would actually offer to pick people up and then all of the sudden they were sick too

My fav excuse is ..'oh, I was supposed to work today?' (then they claim to be outta town or something)

A guy that works in the factory part of the company i work for called in one day told me he had a flat tire.. I offered to send someone to change the tire for him, suddenly he had 3 flat tires.. someone must be screwin with him he insisted.. One lady say she couldnt sit up that long it made her feel light headed.. my boss told her get out here now or you dont have a job.. (this is where it gets sad and kinda weird) she came to work went to the resstroom, was in there 20 minutes found her passed out on the bathroom florr, 3 days later she died in a hospital in denver...

My main excuse was always "I'm sick" Most likely it was because I had a hangover. Once long ago my boss (after me calling in) said "John, your not going to make any money that way." Since then, there is no "excuse".

A co -worker of mine actually called off work one time because she had to finish her Christmas shopping.I asked her why she did'nt at least lie & say that she was sick? She said because of her luck.... she would have been seen by someone in the stores or a restaurant!
