< I found this wonderful quote
on a box of Celestial Seasonings tea> When it is only through age that one gathers wisdom & experience , why this endless struggle to seem young? Remember that beauty works from within, it cannot be put on & off like a garment, & it depends far more on the culture of the intellect, the tastes, sentiment , and the affections of the soul than the color of the hair, eyes, or the complexion... Be kind, noble, generous well mannered , ber true to yourself and to your friends , & the soft lines of these tender graces & noble virtues will reveal themselves in the face... in a personal atmosphere of goodness & greatness that no one can mistake We cannot be one thing & look another ... There are indelible marks in every face showing the real life within... by Elizabeth Cady Stanton http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_Cady_Stanton http://womenshistory.about.com/library/bio/blstanton.htm http://www.nps.gov/archive/wori/ecs.htm Elizabeth Cady Stanton(1815-1902) is believed to be the driving force behind the 1848 Convention, and for the next fifty years played a leadership role in the women's rights movement. Somewhat overshadowed in popular memory by her long time colleague Susan B. Anthony, Stanton was for many years the architect and author of the movement's most important strategies and documents. Though she became increasingly estranged from the mainstream of the movement, particularly near the end of her career, she maintained to the end her long time friendship with Anthony. |

A Golden Chain
Friendship is a Golden Chain, The links are friends so dear, And like a rare and precious jewel It's treasured more each year... It's clasped together firmly With a love that's deep and true, And it's rich with happy memories and fond recollections, too... Time can't destroy its beauty For, as long as memory lives, Years can't erase the pleasure That the joy of friendship gives... For friendship is a priceless gift That can't be bought or sold, But to have an understanding friend Is worth far more than gold... And the Golden Chain of Friendship Is a strong and blessed tie Binding kindred hearts together As the years go passing by. - Helen Steiner Rice - |

Friends
A friend is someone we turn to when our spirits need a lift. A friend is someone we treasure for our friendship is a gift. A friend is someone who fills our lives with beauty, joy, and grace. And makes the whole world we live in a better and happier place. - Jean Kyler McManus - |

{{{{{V}}}}}}} I LOVE that! Thank you for sharing it! Oh, Auburn Girl... I had a feeling you would love it... it really puts life in much better perspective and takes a lot of pressure off of us to think ever...that we have to try to live up to many others more superficial interpretations of what true beauty really is |

You are RIGHT, V!!! If we could just GLOW with joy and the Spirit within, I don't think we would worry about wrinkles Nearly so much! Thank you my dear Sister Connie No, we don't need to worry about wrinkles... those who really love us, see past our flaws have you ever read the Velveteen Rabbit? it is one of the very most beautiful children's books i have ever read... http://digital.library.upenn.edu/women/williams/rabbit/rabbit.html the whole book is lovingly written out for all of us to read... one of my favorite quotes in the book is... " "What is REAL?" asked the Rabbit one day, when they were lying side by side near the nursery fender, before Nana came to tidy the room. "Does it mean having things that buzz inside you and a stick-out handle?" "Real isn't how you are made," said the Skin Horse. "It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real." "Does it hurt?" asked the Rabbit. "Sometimes," said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. "When you are Real you don't mind being hurt." "Does it happen all at once, like being wound up," he asked, "or bit by bit?" "It doesn't happen all at once," said the Skin Horse. "You become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand." "I suppose you are real?" said the Rabbit. And then he wished he had not said it, for he thought the Skin Horse might be sensitive. But the Skin Horse only smiled. The Boy's Uncle made me Real," he said. "That was a great many years ago; but once you are Real you can't become unreal again. It lasts for always." |
