Emotional eaters, hell yeah, I can relate to that. So much easier said than done but just stop, walk away, go for a walk, do something anything but eat. Like all addictions, it's a downward spiral, you feel bad, you eat, you temporarily feel better so you keep eating, you feel sick, ashamed, guilty, etc. So you eat more to make yourself feel better. And, unlike addictions to drugs or alcohol, you cannot avoid food, you can't get it out of your house. You have to eat in order to live. Controlling it is the hard part. I have it under control sometimes, sometimes not. But, at least I've gotten to the point, finally, of being able to recognize it before it gets too out of hand, at least most of the time.

One thing I've learned is to find something that makes you feel good that has NOTHING to do with food. And you have to do this when you're not in the cycle of the emotional eating. That way, you have something to use as a tool to help get you past it.

Since my sister died..... Call me crazy , but I was given some of her clothing , and well , I think I ate so I could fit in them ... Not joking at all. I miss her terribly!

The cravings are strong, but don't last very long. You should go for a walk instead.

Also, you could guzzle down a couple of glasses of water to fill your belly.

Better yet, bring water on your walk.

what people don't understand is emotional eaters do not eat cause they are hungry,they eat because they are sad,upset,mad,bored etc.its hard to change that process but i sure am trying.

well i've slowed down on the emotional eating....but i've also had other things to occupy my mind

It doesn't matter what your reason for wanting to eat is, I'm just saying that if you occupy your mind with something else, (preferably something healthy, like a walk, swim, bike ride, or beer pong (with light beer of course)) your craving will fade. Even if you decide to walk to a place to get something to eat, and then walk home after eating it, it's still better for you than vegging out on your couch in the dark with Ben and Jerry's smeared on your face. Get it? Even if you do end up eating, being active after the fact will make you feel at least 60% better about it.

When I am upset I can eat a whole box of Krispy Kremes, Rice Krispie Treats and still look for more food. Good thing I run all day at work, I would weigh a ton.

Definitely have done it before, but I have a better handle on it now, although I have noticed that sometimes the blues are cured by eating lunch.

I've also gotten the same pick me up from taking a walk (about a mile) after work. Just talk to yourself the whole way. That's what the voices tell me to do.

Seriously, that helped me and I hope it can help you. Just keep the food out of the house and walk the stress away!

oh yeah!
Found some good books but they didn't solve it.
Found another book on eating to control your blood sugar-oh my gosh its soo much easier now.

well u have to remember who u r and who u want to be. I have always had a eating problem but if u just stop for one moment and listen to ur inner u, u will put it down, but u have to listen because what u want and what u need r totally differant
so do what u need ok good luck!!
