You know, you would figure that if you see a commercial that tells you to "Not try this at home." that is would sink in to...in fact...not try it at home.

But, I can honestly remember doing crap when I was a kid that I should have never done and am surprised that I walked away from.

For instance. Tying a rope to the bumper of a car, holding onto it while standing on a skateboard and doing what we called "asphalt surfing".laugh

So, name something that you guys did as a kid that was crazy.

A friend of my children was actually killed this way..but it was a sled..his sister was driving and when she went around the corner he slid of and his stomach went across a piece of rebar that was sticking out of the edge of the sidewalk...people just don't realize the dangers...glad all of you are safe...He was only 18 and it happened right in front of his house.

Never admit your crimes until you have a noose around your neck.

We would take a carhood sled it down the hill, then dive off before the hood went into the river.

I can also remember sledding out in Korthanke's pasture. We'd have to duck at the bottom of the run to go UNDER the barb wired fence.

Jumping out of the hay door to the barn (at least 20 feet down).

That homemade tobaggan Dad has out in the barn is probably deadly. It weighs close to 300 lbs. It's made of rought iron, and we used to tie it behind a pickup and go through the fields.

Riding in the beds of pickups.

Seat belts, never heard of them.

We had a three wheeler, I shouldn't have to say more.

I could buy alcohol when I was 15 (Gotta love those two little old ladies in Severance. They were so blind I could hand them my restricted lisence, they would look at it and say "okay.")

"Car Tag"

Just a few...

OMG. I remember when we first flipped our three wheeler. It was my cousin Mark's and he and I were just going down this dirt road, hit this rock with the front tire, and then flipped that bad boy.

We use to have bottle rocket wars too. Took a bottle rocket in the back. Ouch!

Oh yeah, we had a circle drive around the barns. We often used this as a "race circut" with the three wheeler. One night Troy was out, and we had that thing out, he was moving at top speed when he went by us at the gates. Next thing we know, theres this loud "clang." He drove that thing right into the doors of our metal "quanset" building. He took a huge shot to the head, fortunately for Troy, there are no vital organs there (laugh laugh ). He hit hard enough to bend the front axle all the way back into the engine compartment. Grandpa just heated the metal and bent it out. We used it for years after. My brother nailed a plow furrow once and bent it back in. He got pretty skinned up from flying over the handlebars.

We use to race Go Karts in my grandparents field. I can't count how many times we wrecked those things, and these were the ones that were not very safe either.laugh laugh

OMG if I told you every thing I did when I was younger..I would have to change the names of my friends to protect the guilty!!
We use to hop on the hood of the car and surf while one of us would drive..now that I look back after I have grown up, yes I do realize how stupid this was. I think the reason we stopped this was..my sister was 15 and was driving once, my best friend Kim and I were surfing and we spotted the cops. My sister slammed on the brakes and threw Kim off the car and then almost ran over her. After that little episode, we never "surfed" again!! It was fun though while it lasted

When I was a kid I used to go to Grandpa's a lot. Now he was a poor farmer, and most of his equipment was from the 1930's. Now if anyone has ever been around a tractor from the 30's you'd know they have an open flywheel at the rear, so that belts could be attached to operate equipment such as threshers or saws.

Well I'd ride around with Grandpa on this tractor. Now it had only one seat, so I would have to stand with my feet on the axle, right next to this flywheel. It didn't even have a cut-off on it. If the tractor was on it was in operation, and it was razor sharp around the edges.

The only other place to stand was on the implement or equipment that was hard mounted to it. I could only stand on it when the PTO wasn't actually hooked up.

And if that wasn't dangerous enough, by the time I was 8, I was taking out in the fields by myself. Grandma has pictures!!

Did anyone else "learn to swim" by having someone throw them in a pond and then say, now swim to shore?

Tied a parachute to a car hood and rode it across a field on a very windy day... it was one of those ideas that looked great on paper. Word of warning to anyone wanting to try this, there are no brakes or steering.ohwell
