Eh, Whats up, Doc? Just home with the air conditioner running. My muscles and tendons are tight as banjo cords from lifting residents. We had a code black during our busiest time on our shift. A code black for us is when we do our tornado drills. Got to get all the residents out in the hall with pillows and blankets on them. Then when they give the 'all clear' over the speakers you got to get them all back in their rooms. Oh, the residents just love it. My arms feel like I have been throwing hay in the barns when I was younger. If I could find my ruby slippers I would be clicking them together and yelling there is no place like home.

Wow Sorry you are sore. I try to take treats to the staff at the Nurseing Home where my Princess is for just that kind of reason. I know it is a tough job. Most are angels and it seems so unfair when they get stuck with a lazy co-worker. Families know which aids do the real care. I wanted to cry tonight as we were leaving one of the best aids says she is leaving the 25th. I can not understand how they can charge the families so much money and pay the staff so little. I did home care 24/7 five years and probably would still be doing it if I hadn't landed in the ER myself last January.

Yeah. I know what ya mean. Ours just paid 22,000 for this whirlpool. We had the in service on it and watched the man operate it. Supposed to get the resident real clean. It front loads with a chair on a rail into the whirlpool. We have Alzheimers on our wing. You get them on the chair and they slide in real easy. Then you close the door on the thing. The water touches their toes then they start panicking. Then the machine makes this noise which scares the hell out of them even more. They are strapped in and can't get out. Then the machine starts to sound with this scary noise like a washing machine. You are trying to comfort them and tell them its going to be alright. Then they start yelling get me out of this damn thing. Then you start telling them it will be over in a minute, hon. It is like what kind of sadist made this contraption. I am sorry but whirlpools and Alzheimers just don't mix. But it does seem like a treat for those without dementia.

I'm a retired Psych.Nurse. my residents were mentaly & physically disabled. I can relate, i loved it.

Hi I did Alzheimers in home care...bathing came with stuggle, biting, and hari pulling....the fear of water and being closed in is so strong....the other part about being clean sounds good though. The one that did all thta violence was Asian and once you got her settled in the shower you could hardly get her out. Cheers for your good work!
