When getting to know someone, which would you prefer...having someone do a professional Background Check, or meeting their friends, family and co-workers and letting them tell you a few things ?

neither..i like to find out for myself..and if there was a person doing background checks on me (although I have nothing to hide..never been to jail or anything)and I would find out, then I would be soo pissed I would think total Psycho, and that would be the end of it.

I want to get to know the woman first hand, not through some agency report or friends and family!

I have a bg check every 3 months, I work security.

b/c it is a trust issue...and when we are getting to know each other it just kinda sends the vibe that u are controlling and will be throughout the relationship..and I am not into controlling men..if I wanna go out I go out,and I don't want to have the guy sending a Private Investigator out to spy...and if we are just getting to know each other and u are already doing this I can only imagine..lol
Funny thing is,my neighbor did that..she like checked everyones background in the neighborhood..(she must have been bored) but she was the most Psycho of all..lol.. It just sends a bad message..IMO |

i havent done one personally but im pretty sure my family has just to see if everything is ok. as my sister neighbor is a cop so we can get almost all the info we need from him...

I check IP addresses if I'm to the point that we're exchanging private email. I consider that a practice in safety and not personal info. I have had people give me personal info and say.."check me out if it makes you more comfortable"...and I have sometimes. But I'm not going to get a detailed history on someone...that should come from them, and would seem like spying. If I distrust them that much, I should not be talking with them at that point.

I would go with "meeting their friends, family and co-workers and letting them tell you a few things" and if anyone said anything negative, I'd confront him about it. And honestly, I would think that if they were his true friends, they wouldn't be telling lies on him anyway.

If i'm getting to know someone and i want to know things about them, i ask them and watch there actions. Family and friends will always say high things about them. It's how they live there life is how you get to see who there really are. |

Both are useless. Both paint a differnt picture then reality. I'd rather get screwed over by a liar then break trust myself.
