I would like to know if people really believe in this concept? And if you do, why? Was kind of experience did you have to confirm that it's legitimate?

I appreciate your opinion. And with all due respect, how do really know for sure that science is fact? Science, for many years has tried to prove facts through mathematics. But what if the calculations are wrong? Some people believe only in scientific facts. But you have to ask yourself, how do you really know these are facts? Just something to ponder.

I totally believe it.

Basically it is Karma,

or for the bible thumpers...you reap what you sow.

Interesting.. Thanks for your input. But I must ask what brought you to this conclusion? Laws of Attraction is a little more than just karma. However I do believe in the concept of karma.

I guess that's really simplifying it. But what you think and hope and talk about goes out there...if it's negative sh*t all the time, that is what you will attract back to yourself, likewise if it is positive.

To know , one should spend time and effort to find out .
Although imaginary numbres are somehow difficult to be understood in math , they are widely used in engineering and therefore in technology .
logic , common sense and study are the way to go .

The Law of Attraction
Experiment #1

**********************

I lost my black cat when she was hit by a car. I decided I wanted another black cat, but that I would not actively seek one out, I would just put out my request to the Universe to deliver it to me.

This was an attraction experiment done according to only some of the instructions.

I purposely kept this a secret, because I did not want everyone in town bringing me cats to adopt. (News travels fast in my small town.)

I wanted a special black cat, delivered to my door by the universe via the law of attraction.

(I decided to use only the visualization technique, withholding any actual action on my part unless I felt action was necessary later.) But it was my intention to do what was necessary later... if needed.

The first thing I did was to agree to receive it and to expect it to come. I mentally opened my heart and my door to the new arrival.

I began to see symbols of black cats everywhere I went. I bought a black cat calendar. I saw a battery operated black cat that purred and moved and meowed in XXX_XXX and I bought that.

I hung the calendar up and showed everyone my fake black cat. They thought I was a little nuts. (I did not tell them I had placed an order for a real one with the universe, because they already thought I was nuts.)

It was about two months later when my order arrived. Two children knocked on my door. They told me that they were walking by my house and they heard a noise coming from the hole where our water shut off valve was in front of our house. They said it sounded like a cat.

I went to the hole and removed the steel cover which was loosely covering the hole. There was two tiny black kittens. I reached in and pulled them out.

They were about two weeks old, with their eyes barely open. My mother was watching from her porch. I showed her my kittens. She said “you can’t keep them, they are too young, they need their mother!”

I said, “I’m their mother now.”bigsmile

The Universe had sent me two black kittens. I had only ordered one, I thought. I literally plucked them from a hole in the ground.

I raised them both together, bottle feeding them. Later, one of them hitched a ride on someone’s trailer and was never found. I only have one left.

The universe delivered.

Just from a practical point of view it's obviously true to a point. If you hang around with people who just sit around and complain then that's what you'll attract, more people who sit around and complain. On the other hand if you hang around with people who do creative and productive things you'll find a lot of opportunities to do things.

I think a lot of people misunderstand the so-called "Law of Attraction". It doesn't require magic and it's not magic. You can lock yourself in a small room and meditate all you want on becoming successful in life, but if you don't act on those thoughts nothing going to come of them.

In order for the so-called "Law of Attraction" to work you must actively participate in life.

However, if you stop and think about it, the very act of going out into the world with a very positive view on life already gives you a much higher probability that something positive and constructive will happen.

In fact, if you watch the video called "The Secret" what do they tell you? They tell you that you must act when the impulse strikes. You must be willing to go with the flow. "Flow with the Tao" if you will.

So you can give it any name you want. You can call it the "Law of Attraction", you can call it the "Power of Belief", you can use the cliché "God helps those who help themselves". You can call it whatever you want. The bottom line is that you have to get out there and make things happen.

The "Power" comes from the power of belief. And it power is real, because without belief you won't try. You'll go out and as soon as things aren't going you're way you'll quit and say, "It doesn't work". But that's because you gave up before an opportunity came by.

What it all comes down to is "Persistence". If you persist long enough at anything you'll eventually succeed at it.

So if you can believe any anything at all that causes you to become 'Persistent', then you win.

If you find the "Law of Attraction" attractive then go with that. In fact, those motivational people on the video "The Secret" even said that it doesn't matter. Believe whatever works for you!

All that really matters is that you believe. Without belief you give up trying. And once you give up trying then nothing's going to happen.

It should be called, "The Law of Not Giving Up". laugh

One of the steps in using the law of attraction is action, but that is not the most important step. The mental process and the INTENTION is the most important step.

Without intention, the attraction will stall. But I cannot tell you how many times I have gotten what I wanted just because I intended to have it and before I ever took the action to get it. I only intended to take the action.

But the action itself is very important. If you don't move and mingle, you will stall. Many times just the intention, and the movement, will bring to you what you want and the actions you take sometimes seem to have little to do with it.

In the case of my black cat, I did not take any action towards acquiring a real live black cat. I did not even tell anyone about my intention. Visualization and intention alone brought them to my door. An alley cat decided to move her kittens into the hole in front of our house. Although she was a gray cat, both of her kittens were black.

Magic does not really exist, but if anything can be called magic it would be the law of attraction and the manner in which we create our own personal reality.

For true believers, they manifest as miracles. For the pragmatic or practical thinkers they are coincidences. For me, it is the law of the universe and just how things work.

In order for the so-called "Law of Attraction" to work you must actively participate in life.

I will disagree with you on one thing. You don't have to believe in the law of attraction in order for it to work.

(That would be like saying that you had to consciously believe in the law of gravity in order for it to work. On an unconscious level this might be true, but we are talking conscious belief here.)

In fact, we consistently create our reality. We consistently attract things into our experience with our thoughts and our belief.

If you want to know what your are attracting, just look around you. Look at your experiences and your relationships. That is what you are attracting.

Very insightful Jeannie! I really appreciate you sharing your story. I personally do believe in this! It is also written in the bible that if you have faith of a mustard seed, you can move mountains. I can definitely compare the two.

Some Christians do not believe in tha Law of Attraction. But it's written in plain english in the bible.

I don't remember saying that you have to believe in it for it to work. I think what I was trying to say is that if you want to attract positive result into your life then you have to believe in positive things.

As far as saying that your current state is what you attracted to yourself I think that's pretty obvious in most cases. If you're life's a mess you probably made it that way.

But isn't that obvious anyway even without a "Law of Attraction"?

Life is what you make it.

You are what you are.

I do think though that are times when things happen to people that they didn't necessarily attract. Like old age for example. laugh

Other things too, like disease and freak accidents.

Although in truth I can't say for sure.

As far as my own personal life is concerned the Law of Attraction may very well be perfectly true. I've never had anything happen to me that I didn't deserve (or at least attract).

I think it is possible to attract things we don't want.

To attract the things we do want I think we need to make a conscious effort to do that.

Some people may very well be self-destructive too. Maybe even in ways that they aren't aware of.

I know that I'm horribly self-destructive myself, but I'm also so damn tough that I'm basically indestructible. So as hard as I try to destroy myself I just can't achieve any results. laugh
