A US air strike in eastern Afghanistan on Sunday killed 47 civilians, 39 of them women and children
Reports at the time said that 20 people were killed in the airstrike in Nangarhar province. The US military said they were militants. But local people said the dead were wedding party guests. Correspondents say the issue of civilian casualties is hugely sensitive in Afghanistan. President Hamid Karzai has said that no civilian casualty is acceptable. Correspondents say most civilian deaths in Afghanistan are caused by Taleban fighters and other militants opposed to President Karzai and US and Nato-led forces. On Monday a suicide attack on the Indian embassy in Kabul killed 41 people, most of them civilians. However, foreign troops have also often killed civilians, leading to an erosion of support for their presence in Afghanistan. Last year a US army spokesman said he was "deeply ashamed" after US marines killed 19 civilians near Jalalabad in Nangarhar province. |

A BIG issue is that at wedding parties it is common to fire into the air and if a US airplane is flying over at the time what do you think happens.

Just an observation, but I SWEAR that 9 times out of 10 a US airstrike on suspected militants hits "a wedding party". Don't know what it means. Not saying anything but that. Could mean that the militants are getting married a lot. A muslim man can have four wives at the same time Jeez ... imagine if they all are on their period at different times!!! every week its "happy hour" |

Could mean that the militants are getting married a lot. A muslim man can have four wives at the same time Jeez ... imagine if they all are on their period at different times!!! every week its "happy hour" It would be interesting to know if the four wives all get together in a mass orgy If so then may be those men have got it right?

Last year a US army spokesman said he was "deeply ashamed" after US marines killed 19 civilians near Jalalabad in Nangarhar province. I read this, very sad. And the truth be known we do not hear about the majority of these "OOPS". I remember reading of more of these OOPS in other places also. It is just complete stupidity on our countries part that this is happening. |
