I've been a barista for almost 4 years. I'm just wondering your thoughts and concerns on how you feel about nearly 9,000 Starbucks closing down withing the next year or so. I work at a private company so the business doesn't much affect me at all per say. Is this because of the falling economy? The smart move for starbucks not to compete with themselves? What do you think?

I think it is a good idea. They grew too big, too fast. There is one part of town here where there are 5 Starbucks within 3 miles. They also did not plan on McDonald's, Dunkin Donuts, and others introducing specialty coffee beverages. I am sure the economy plays a small part in the decision. While I have not been forced to cut my mochas from my budget, I will not drive to get one unless I am going elsewhere.

I work at a cafe as well. I think Starbucks' decline has a lot to do with an increase of places offering the same sort of drinks a lot cheaper -- and often times better. I think Starbucks will probably be just fine as a chain, it just has some restructuring to do.

There are about 6 Starbucks within a 25 mile radius of my place, it's sort of crazy.

I'm not a fan of Starbucks...the more that close the better. They charge way too much for crap coffee...JMHO...

Hay I'm new to this anyways I been surfing the net for a date I just want talk to the people that are drinking coffee I'm lonly and I had not had a date ever sence I got out of prison thats been close two years and some well its not like i was looking for a date all this time just looked around thats all about I don't want the girls to get scared there nothing to be affraied of well I just found out that I have heart problems and and I felt all right back thin its been about a year ago and now I'm feeling the pressure of my body and I just wanted to give up and wait to die but now I think I all ways wanted a child one day and see him or her grow up and now I just sad, hurting that life sucks cause the doctor said if i don't have this surgery then there a more chance that i would have heart atackk or stoke but they said and worned me if then made a mistake with the surgery then i could end up with a peace maker i told that doctor i'll just take my chances not having it i hate this feeling i have i wish i were in good shape and just wanted to say to the coffee drinker enjoy your life make somthing out it don't waste it doing all these drugs hay don't think i was clean freak and not know what i'm talking about cause i do i use to be real bad on drugs i've probley smoked p-t for about 8 years or more and drinked to i seen what it was doing to me but didn't care i didn't think it would happen to me to almost die boy was i wrong as i got older you start to see what really life is about I'm 26 years old and about 27 next month and now I'm having heart problem man i ask my self every day why did use my body like a toy and that p-t i get sick every time I'm around it i've made my self sick of it I'm stiil young and lonly sad hurt it just suck not haveing a socal life and now it just makes me depressed about hole deal of useing my body like a toy I'm tired of that life I want to find a country girl that would take care of me and i do the best i can to take care of her. people take care of your body you youngens that read this 25 and down I'm 26 years old i ant know old guy i'm still a youngen just listen don't waste your time wearing your body down cause you'll get your chance at young age to have all sort problem unless you take care of your self just be carefull while i drink my coffee.
